Payne: Players likely to return

it will all depend on who the next guy is. any announcements regarding transfers or what not will likely not take place until after they announce who is gonna be the new head coach.
 
I don't know anyone thought any different. Where would they go? Not a rag on any of our players but I don't see anyone on our roster that would have sharks circling around them. There was always a chance Brommer would go to a DII school somewhere but Cully was never going anywhere.

What was he going to do, leave Iowa in the hopes that he could follow Lickliter to Toledo?

A good friend of mine involved with basketball said that he was looking to transfer to smaller school. Was going to regardless of his father's situation, now I can see him at Toledo especially if his father gets the job...and probably getting quality PT there.

Not so much current players but there has been interest in Iowa's incoming recruits, especially Cody Larson. Even Hoya fans are posting they would like to pick him up if he requests to be released from his LOI.

While what you say is true the article was only about current players.


As far as recruits I know McCabe has said he is still comming to Iowa and that he spoke with Larson who told him he was still comming to Iowa. Burst is comming as long as he is wanted. Not sure about Marble.

I'm wondering about Marble. He sure seems to spend a lot of time on Twitter talking about watching TV, playing video games, watching sports, disliking school, re-tweeting. Also seems a bit uncertain about a lot of things.

I suppose that could be said of a lot of high school seniors.

Roughly 99% I'm guessing. By the time you could replace "school" with "work" and "twitter/re-tweeting" with "posting on Hawkeyenation" and it would cover 99% of us.
 
No big surprise that they're saying this. I'm sure they at least want to know who the incoming coach will be. I wouldn't be surprised either if all of our recruits decide to stay if we come up w/ a good, charismatic HC.

Any concerns the new coach might not care to have any of the current players/recruits stick around?

I would very much want to see Fuller/Gatens/May/Payne and virtually all our recruits next year

Once, twice... thrice?

There appears to be a lot of comming going on. Are they on intercoms or something? It would actually kinda make sense if it was short for communicating... or commuting. Or, the Unix command "comm" used for comparing two files for common and distinct lines (I cheated and googled the last one).

Just messing. I can't believe how much interest I've lost in the recruiting class since the "new coach" talk has started... I hope we keep them but I'm also hoping that whoever we get keeps the guys he can use and paints a clear picture for the rest. I never thought I'd be so harsh with our own guys but I'm so tired of what this team has become over the last few years...
 
Any chance the players got wind of who the new coach may possibly be from Barta? Don't know if the players and Barta have been staying in touch this past week much or not..

Strongly doubt the players and recruits will know anything before the new coach is announced by Phil Haddy.
