Paul Chaney and Keenan Davis

Does anyone know why neither Chaney nor Davis got any touches Saturday? Was there an injury I didn't hear about? Stanzi and Vandy were spreading the ball around to multiple receivers, but I can't find anything anywhere saying that these two were even in the game. I thought the pre-season talk was that these two were going to play important roles in the passing game. Please help.

I never saw Chaney in there, but Davis was rotated in plenty. He didn't get touches for the same reason that DJK and McNutt didn't get a lot: we didn't open up the vertical passing game.

Chaney got in on the last drive of the game. For the most part we played just 3 WR's which surprised me.

Chaney did get in with the second team offense at the end of the game. He was playing in the slot, but they did not throw the ball his way.

Honestly, I don't see Chaney having much of a role unless someone goes down. Davis will get plenty of reps and will rotate at the 3rd receiver with Sandeman. We will see the wide receivers get more looks this week when we open it up a little more. Nothing wrong with getting our RB's and TE's involved in the passing game. It will only help in the long run.

Until we need them, don't expect to see us turn to the WRs that much. We'll need to keep as many secrets as possible before the Arizona game.

We played 4 WRs (McNutt, Sandeman, DJK and Davis) that rotated in regularly. Also Reisner was split out a few plays.

Chaney got snaps at the end of the game.

Davis was in the game quite a bit. The wr rotation seemed to be DJK / Sandeman / mcNutt / Davis all got pretty equal snaps. Davis and DJK were back on returns.

Chaney and Nordman rans with the second unit.

Davis played a lot, he just didn't get thrown to, or even looked at really.

Hard to throw the ball to yourself.

I still think that we were holding back our offense a bit, no reason to open the whole playbook the first game of the year vs an FCS school.

DJK, McNutt and Davis are HUGE weapons in the passing game, hopefully we get them more involved.

This^^

We played it as close to the vest as possible last week. I fully expect a lot more passes thrown to the wide outs next week and I fully expect a continuation of good rushing behind a combined Hampton/Robinson partnership.

Hey, don't forget our secondary; I fully expect a lot of passes being thrown to them by Arnaud too. He had 1-2 int's against a really bad team.
