JoePa never used email in any way, shape or form. That is according to his family.

Here is what I know….the President of the United States is really powerful, but not as powerful as the “real” people behind the scenes….and I know Joe Pa had people that could and would fire him if he messed up enuff. We all look at things at face value and say “yep he is powerful” or” no one tells him what to do” but rarely does it really work out that way……

There are big people (and money is what makes people “big”) that knew about this too. Joe Pa ran a successful football team…..he was well liked, by those with the money. THAT’S what gave him any power he had.

Now you and others have assumed I’m defending Joe. Not true, Joe and his family don’t need me too defend them and they’ll answer to the real Truth one day. I’m defending or rather debating the way in which we process things….Joe is the “biggest” entity we can “see” therefore that’s who we want to go down and oh by the way take down the “football” team with him…….

That’s convenient thinking IMHO and short sighted at that. Not to mention, now that he is dead he’ll be the automatic target for ALL peoples involved and you’ll all fall right into the trap with them…Heck he is dead, lets blame the dead guy and we will all go our merry way?!?! And we will all take the bait!

The selective leaks of e-mails damaging to Paterno, Spanier and Curley stinks and suggests prosecutors are worried that the conflicting testimony McQueary gave in the Sandusky case may have damaged him for their prosecution of the former university officials.

Couple things here.....



1st….Its nice to see someone looking at the depth of this and the subtle nuances playing out before our eyes..

2nd….most of them, maybe all of them including Joe are all likely complicit to out and out criminal in what they did or not do. Buuuuttt all the same there are some strange goings on here with this email deal and power people behind the scenes railroad people all the time. Sometimes the peopled railroaded have it coming, maybe even most of the time, but there is usually a money trail somewhere attached to people big enuff to “notâ€￾ be involved.

Pretty good thread. Some good points by the OP.

I'll stop reading it after about half of page 3 though. By then everyone will just be questioning everyone else's ability to read, etc, etc ad infinitum.

For all the "Paterno did this/that/the other", we STILL have yet to see ANY positive proof that he was covering up. We KNOW, per his words and the words of others, that he DID approach the "appropriate" people whn McQueary went to him.

And yet, people blame Paterno, NOT McQueary?! Paterno gets fired, NOT McQueary?!

Put yourself into a similar situation. IF someone went to you with similar allegations, would you report it without solid backing/proof? McQueary should have gone straight to the cops. Paterno was caught in n-man's land. Just MAKINGF allegatiuons could have landed him in a libel/slander situation. (I know, I know, he was so powerful he could have directed everyone to blah blah blah).

He may not have done "enough". But to say he was "covering" is overreaching with the information we actually have.
 
Wow. A young man goes to his boss who is the biggest force at PSU to tell him about a sexual assault. He is told by the icon that he would handle it. The icon waits a week to even mention the sexual assault to his cronies, one of whom, the AD was once a QB for the icon and hand picked by the icon to be the AD. And yet some people blame the young GA. If Paterno had wanted him to go to the police he would have told him to do so. Or Joe Pa could have told them himself.
(And please don't parrot the crap that one of those cronies was head of the Penn St police. He was a university VP that had the police as one department under his management.)
These cronies who had allegedly decided to inform the charity and let other officials know about the sexual assault then decide to keep it to themselves, after input from someone named Joe. Joe Pa? - Nah, another amazing coincidence I'm sure. And even more kids are raped.
And oh yes, 3 years earlier the icon loses Sandusky, his two time national assistant coach of the year, unexpectedly when he suddenly resigns. Coincidentally this is the year after Sandusky admits to a young boy's mother that he did shower with him and wishes he were dead. The conversation is heard by the police as well. What an amazing coincidence the resignation happens after the confession. I'm sure Joe Pa had no idea!

In related news, the 2007 student beating incident has turned up again. The Freeh investigation has testimony that PSU officials removed evidence, and Paterno threatened football players if they testified, in the case of a group of football jocks entering a residence and beating the students living there. Yet another coincidence involving Joe Pa. This guy just can't buy a break!

Never said he did the right thing. But we do NOT know that he was trying to hide anything.

I still maintain, though, that Paterno should have gone to the police with McQueary, then let McQueary make any/all statements. If Paterno didn't witness anything, making a statement about what someone ELSE saw could potentially open him--and PSU--to a libel suit.

But the one thing NObody did was immediately end any/all access for Sandusky to PSU facilities unless/until it was resolved.
 
My bad, he only waited a few days after hearing of the rape late night in one of his showers, as Paterno said, "I didn't want to interfere with their weekends, (so) either Saturday or Monday, I talked to my boss, Tim Curley, by phone, saying, 'Hey we got a problem' and I explained the problem to him," Paterno said.
Of course he had almost certainly known of that problem since Sandusky left his staff abruptly in 1999.

You have ZERO proof to back-up the last sentence. Even though I agree he probably DID know, the proof isn't there. Just sayin'.
