Pat Forde and others saying Georgia belongs in CFPlayoffs???

That’s too simplistic thinking. You understand they don’t play a schedule like iowa...right? They list to possibly the greatest college football program this decade after leading most of the game. They olay offense and defense exceptionally well and wouldn’t get blown out at purdue or iowa by 30. They are better than ohio or Oklahoma

If they stay at 4, that is saying FU to Saban and make him win same game again. There would have been a riot if the committee jumped them up on a loss. Reality is they had their chance and dumba$$ fake punted it away.

I doubt committee would say this but I think they were praying for a GA win. Then it would have been 1-Clemson vs 4-Alabama and 2 Georgia vs 3- ND

If Georgia was a top 4 team, they wouldn’t have lost their 2 most important games of the year. There isn’t participation points for almost beating bama. Michigan has 2 losses (both against top 6 teams) and they aren’t even in consideration.

If your wins/losses don’t matter, then why do we play?
I agree, the meaning of every game on the schedule is what makes college football so great. That being said, Georgia is better than OU, OSU or ND.

i guess we will see.

Everyone wants a playoff and when GA loses in a playoff like scenario, people want them back in?

Oh the good ole debate of who deserves it over who's better... With the criteria being vague as it is the only way to squash it is to go to 8. It's by far the best way. 16 I think is too much and you'll never realistically have the 11th through 16th team have a shot at winning it. 8 at least allows for EVERY MAJOR CONFERENCE CHAMPION to be in with room for 3 more however you want to slice it. That allows for cinderella to get her shot too if she can get up to 8. If you aren't in the top 8 I have no sympathy for you being on the outside looking in. Not one bit.
You look at GA and even OSU you can make an argument for either of them to be in. So the answer is there to be done. But the powers that be are so so slow at making change it'll just be awhile. I bet it'll happen. In fact they'll probably horse around with 6 before they get to 8 which would be dumb. But we'll see if we all live long enough

Georgia’s a very good team but they lost their playoff game last night. Win they were in, lose they were out. I’m not saying they don’t “deserve” it but IMO losing a conference championship should never punch a ticket into a 4 team playoff.

All sports with a playoff have better teams left out because divisions or conferences are not equal. Sometimes the two best teams are in the same division.

Every pro sport allows for "Wild Card teams". So the strongest division gets multiple participants in the playoffs.

sure that's true but there's been occasions where teams have not made it because a division winner made it from a crappy division and worse records made it.

For those of you who keep saying Georgia is better, how many of you also thought Michigan was better than Ohio St.? How many people thought Alabama was better than Ohio St in 2014?

Agreed, but AL would have been in had they lost.

Good point. I personally think GA, right now, is one of the best 4, but that's why ya play the games. OSU was better than Purdue this year and better than Iowa last year, but ya gotta win.

8 team playoff ends 99% of debate, a 6 team playoff with 2 teams getting byes likely ends 99% of debate in most years.

As long as they treat the conference championship games as a playoff round (which they should) there already is an 8 team or so playoff. Having Georgia still in the playoffs after that loss would be like putting Alabama in the championship game if they lose the first round because "everyone knows they are one of the 2 best teams".

All they had to do was flip Georgia and Notre Dame

No it wouldn’t. One os the playoffs and the other eas the regular season

Michigan and osu are irrelevant to the discussion as neither were top 4 wuality teams

So you think losing a game and a 2nd loss means they go up? That makes no sense at all. What is the point of the season then?
Should the NFL give a wildcard game to the Packers because eye test says Aaron Rodgers is really good regardless of results?

Pat Forde is groveling for a job with the four-letter.
That Yahoo Sports coin may not be market competitive.

That's such a load of crap, though. The ACC, Pac 12 and Big Ten West are all hot freaking garbage. The Big 12 is lucky Texas was decent this year (but still bad enough to lose to Maryland). The only conference that even has a semblance of the championship game looking like a playoff round is the SEC. Maybe the Big 12 will get back there if Texas rights its ship, but even with them, Oklahoma and Texas already play during the year.

I'm a Big Ten homer, but in no world does the Big Ten West ever send a formidable enough foe to face OSU, Michigan or PSU to warrant that being a playoff round. Programs like Florida and Tennessee may be down, but those programs are two recruiting classes and finding (or paying like Auburn allegedly did with Cam) a great QB away from being good enough to be national champs. The three historical best teams in the Big Ten West (Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin) aren't even in the same stratosphere as Florida, Georgia or Tennessee.
