Parallels btw. 1998 & 2012: Or, why Kirk needs to go, and why he might

Boss I like you dude but this it pretty silly.

In 1998 Fry was 69 years old. He was nearing the end, physically struggled with the demands of the job (recruiting, long hours, etc), and his recruiting had been struggling for a few years mainly due to other schools using the age thing to negatively recruit against him.

If you want to draw a parallel from to any of Fry's season the correct answer is 1989. After an outstanding 8 season run including 2 Big ten titles he had a bit of a hiccup and rebuilding year, and had his first loosing season in the B10 ever. The following year he had his team in the Rosebowl.

I'm not saying we will be in the Rose Bowl this year, but I'm excited about where this team is going. The recruiting the last few years has been impressive, and we have a lot of good young players that are going to be hitting the field over the next few seasons.

The future is bright.

How dare you use logic and optimism! Don't you know that the end of Hawkeye FB dominance is at an end?
Actually, I really believe the fan base doesn't realize just how young this team is. There was also some transition in coaching this year - new coordinators, etc. Not looking PAST this year- because there is still a LOT to play for - but next year, the OL will only get better, the D will be much better and Cotton & Smith will continue to get better at their WR position. As Duff pointed out, the talent is there, it is just young & lacking experience. Be patient everyone.

Puff puff give brother

LMFAO, again.

There are 2 years with which to compare this year, 2000 and 2006. Those were both the middle of a KF low stretch, you will have one more year of this, because of the schedule next year and the new QB, and then you'll see a big upturn and then in 2014 everyone will be saying KF needs an extension after calling for him to be fired in the off-season.

You know what CAAR - your theory defies logic and makes no sense at all.

But looking at our roster, it's right. I'm now more interested as to the why/how than I am in the if.
