Paige gets Kansas offer

Paige is probably a longshot now. We need to lock up Woodbury and Gessel ASAP.
Can Gessel play pg well enough to be our guy after Cully? Hope so.

This is just infuriating to continue to have these Iowa prep superstars like Barnes,LaFrentz,Hinrich, and Collison follow Roy Williams or go to KU.
I have to put some blame on Mr. Davis for letting Raef escape, starting this trend.
Never happened before that. Since then, every single top 25 Iowa prep has gone to Roy Williams...and now, possibly Bill Self. Can Fran staunch the bleeding with Peter Jok? I am sick of Iowa being the personal playground for Williams...right now he owns the state...that is disgusting.

This is why for any of us as parents it is soooo important to instill hatred of the Jayhawks in our children's early development.

Hard to blame these kids...have you been to an Iowa or ISU game in the past couple years?

I would like to be optimistic but this is not good news

The good news is at least we offered a kid who Kansas is also after. It seems Fran's eye for talent is pretty good.

gessell is more of a true SG, but more than a decent ballhandler. yeah, paige was a longshot to begin with. eventually some big time program was going to offer. we still have a couple years to impress him and the other 2012'ers though. i think FM's style will give us an outside shot with most of them.

Yeah, because it takes quite the eye to spot a top 30 player and the fifth best PG in the Nation in your home state which, by the way, isn't flooded with talent. Paige will go to KU. I can't blame him. I think the only way he wouldn't is if he sees the guys that will be on the floor for ISU in 2011 and he decides he wants to play with guys like that. I doubt that happens though. The next couple years of recruiting in Iowa could be huge for both programs. It could also end up making or breaking the new staffs.

I understand trying to be positive but this makes no sense. He plays 30 minutes from IC, even Lick couldve figured this one out

ISU should be fine if they get no Iowa players until 2013. I'm not implying that Iowa won't be as well. I don't like ISU's chances with Paige or Woodbury so who's left?

Damn we cant just give up cause Kansas offered , they could get caught cheating, Paige could decide that he wants to be part of rebuilding Iowa, into a basketball program again!!:),You never know.....cant just give up! come-on ! Same with Jok !!! lol

It's official, Iowa should stop recruiting Paige. If the staff had that mindset then they wouldn't have been in the business of basketball as long as they have.
We as a fanbase need to be patient, Coach Fran has come into the program at a good time. Iowa doesn't have a good enough reputation to change everything in one or two years, it will take time. As long as Iowa is competitive and there is no mass exodous, Iowa will be fine and the way Coach Fran has shown the ability to develop players, in the end if we lose Paige all hope is not lost. Iowa hasn't had a lack of talent, it has been depth and togetherness. Look for that to change, I think the culture of Iowa b-ball is already changing judging from what I have read and saw during the offseason.

I'm not blown away by what I've seen of Paige, but the 2011 class is supposed to be very short on high quality PG's and that must have something to do with his rating.

In any event, clearly it's over for Iowa and him. I've heard that Fran has blocked Paige's number on his cell phone and has withdrawn the unofficial visit invitation.
