I occasionally check in on the status of portal players that have left. I have seen very few, if any, examples of where the player has improved their position or stats. In this case, where Freeman is already the statistical best on the team, there is only one direction he can go IMO. Seems the only exceptions are the true alphas that can legitimately contend for a huge NIL payout and I don’t see Freeman as one of those lottery picks. Don’t get me wrong, I hate to see him go, but he still had work to get to elite level.

Mixed feelings on this one. He's obviously a good player, but there were rumors he wasn't getting along with the team. He's not good enough to overcome being a cancer on the team if that's the case. He also seemed lazy a lot. But you can say that for everyone this year.

Part of me says he should have waited until the new coach was named but if he already knew h e was going, why wait?

I'd never heard about being a cancer on the team, if so, goodbye.

My bet he has a 7 digit deal with a name school. There are several centers with no eligibility left and he would be a junior with experience. Dickinson at Kansas comes to mind as an example. The Covid year is running its course at the end of this season.

Hard to say on the "lazy" aspect. He's pretty smooth offensively and played sorta "slow" in high school, too.
Night in / out, he's the most reliable producer and Hawks desperately need bigs. This guts them inside.
