Overwhelmed with Frustration

I never thought that this would happen.....but I am really losing interest in my beloved Hawkeyes.

I am just so overloaded with frustration that I can't support this anymore. They do nothing to change or improve the situation. We just keep paying our head coach top dollar to deliver mediocre results. If they were doing something to help the situation, that is one thing. But Barta sits by and just prays it will get better like the rest of us.

As long as we all continue to accept this crap, this is what we are going to get. Wisconsin has passed us, Michigan State has passed us, and Michigan and OSU will be back on top soon. We are done unless we make a change.

This is why Iowa fans are idiots. I'm so glad you half wits like losing and are supportive of this. Cheer on losers!

Whoa. That makes the decision real easy. I get debates with fellow board members...happens all the time. But this is over the line

Well........bye.

If he was trying to voice frustration over fans happy with marginal successes, and the athletic department and I Club's deference to them, I get it.

I'm not sure what he was trying to voice however.

Jon makes a good point. I know two large donors (one is now deceased) who eat at the Leavett Center with the coach and his wife. Kirk, being from Maine has fresh lobster flown in I guess.

I've heard the concerns of the donors, and they mirror the fans who want wholesome Iowa kids playing football, and no bad press. Jon's point, I think, is that we, even Kinnick Society members, have absolutely no control over any of this. None.

I'll go further. It's our own fault when we accept this, and keep donating.

So I get what the OP might have been frustrated about. I share it. It's my opinion, and that is all it is.

Plenty of people were overwhelmed and frustrated after the 05-07 stretch. Then in 08 the Hawkeyes produced a Doak Walker Award winning, record breaking running back that should've been considered for the Heisman. They lost only four games by a combined 12 points, beat a top 5 team, and one could argue that team should've been undefeated. Then in 09 they won 11 games, including a BCS bowl in which their opponent was favored.

Obviously this coaching staff CAN create a very good program, just not every single year. It comes in cycles. I'm okay with it, as long as the peaks still come.

I think jon thought the op was calling him names but i'm pretty sure he was talking to iowa banker or duff

I think you're right. And in that context, although I would have worded it differently, he has a point.

Because some of us are more business like, and strive for more, we are constantly belittled with not being "real fans". As if worshiping Fry, and sitting through multiple losing seasons makes one a "real fan."

Fans are fans. They come in all different personalities and styles. Even bankers.

IMO, getting that worked up over anything in life where you have zero control is quite a waste of life and time.

Being a hawk is not a hobby, IMO. Some even make it their occupation.

You're right. But I admit, the Nebraska game has taken me until today to calm down. It shouldn't, but it did.

I don't think the weather has helped either.

But it's over, and we move on.

Being a fan of of a sports team is a diversion from life, mostly enjoyable...and can be equated with a hobby.

Covering the Hawks is what I do for a living. Being a fan is one of the things I do for fun. I just get to combine both worlds.

'Business' is always better when the teams are doing better, consistently. But when they aren't, I certainly am not going to let it define me to a point where I get 'Overwhelmed' or 'Overloaded' with frustration because I cannot control the outcome of sporting events. When things near that point, I unplug for a day or so. It's good therapy ;)

I understand why the op is frustrated. I get it and I wish there was some changes being made. I'm not sure why he got banned though... I've read much worse things on this board almost on a daily basis. I get that he could have voiced his opinion a little differently (and there is no reason to be THAT upset/frustrated about a game) but... it is what it is I guess.
