Outback Bowl play calling

lmao...it was not a fluke, those types of plays do happen. The MSU defense guessed wrong and Iowa cashed in. A fluke play is where something bizarre happens, that 33 yard run was way more bizarre than the 75 yard catch and run. It was very bizarre that our defenders missed those tackles.
Call it what ever you want. Fluke, luck, whatever. It was great it happened. Great the team capitalized on it. That 33 yard run was unlike the Hawkeye defense for sure. It was like they forgot how to play for one play.

Sure, but then when things don't go our way, let's just call that bad luck too. No one's fault. No reason to complain.

So all those running plays in the first quarter that went no where. So unlucky we couldn't get those msu players blocked. 3 times in a row even. What are the odds? That dine will be lucky if any of them gey drafted.

And speaking of that lucky 33 yard run. That same qb totally lucked into breaking Tebow's SEC QB rushing record. But Tebow was lucky to get that record in the first place, so maybe not that impressive.

Call it what every you want. Iowa ended up with minus 15 yards rushing. As a team. And you think that's not dominating Iowa's offensive line?

Mississippi State did what Iowa did against Wisconsin, Purdue, Northwestern and Penn State. They screwed up enough so the team with lesser talent won the game.

In the end I think it was Mississippi State's arrogance that beat them. They didn't think Iowa was good enough to beat them with all their talent. And they were almost right. Iowa had better team discipline. Zero penalties. And one less turnover.

Yeah. That was discouraging. However, the pass pro was adequate and gave us the win, along with great defense. All that matters to me.

You asked what top tier coaches would want to come to Iowa and I gave you one. But that isn't good enough.

Really? You gave Stoops. In 1999, Stoops was an unknown. Ferentz had a couple of unsuccessful seasons at Maine, but did have head coaching experience, and was an offensive line coach in the NFL. If, when Kirk retires, would you be one who would tell us to hire the unknown, whose only qualification was he was a player and later assistant at Iowa, Kent State, Kansas State (got the job as he knew Bill Snyder) and Florida? At the time, Ferentz had a much better resume than Stoops.
