Ott medical redshirt?

I am going by the official profile on http://www.hawkeyesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/drew_ott_810172.html
Says that he has played in 6 games this season. He played against Illinois St, Iowa State (injured during game), Pittsburg (limited action), North Texas, Wisconsin, Illinois (injured during game).

Hope he gets it but not too likely. It sure doesn't hurt to try.

He only played 3 full games. His other 3 games add up to maybe one full game. I'd say he has a shot. Playing one quarter as opposed to a full game has to be taken into account.

He's got a chance. There's a legit argument for his case, especially given he didn't redshirt. Definitely worth a shot.

sure, but then you also have to take into account the fact that he didn't play in 8 games his freshman year.

No, you don't. That has nothing to do with the medical hardship rule.

By the way the conference championship game counts, but subsequent games don't. Not that 6/13 is much better than 6/12. Either way 30% rounds up to 4 games, and he played in 6. So they'll have to argue some kind of extenuating circumstances.
