OT: Tim Hardaway Jr declares for the NBA Draft

So silly. Reports have him fall to the bottom of the first / early 2nd. If that's the case, why leave early? Stay another year get better and move up. He's just going to toil in the NBA-DL. It's not like he needs to get paid. Just don't understand who is advising him.

Seniors are rarely drafted high. The NBA drafts on potential and if you've made it all the way to your senior year you are perceived to have maximized most of your potential and have a lower ceiling. Forget the fact that Tim Duncan has been tearing up the NBA for 15 years...

If he literally mashes his senior year, improves his FG% and FT%, IMO. no way he would be a low to mid teens pick.

He's maxed out his value at the college game...he pretty much has to try his luck this year cuz he isn't going 1st round next year.

If GRIII and McGary stay, I still think they are a Top 20 team....but given what has transpired so far, I think Iowa's ceiling next year is 3rd in B1G.

He's not going to improve drastically, and next year's draft is expected to be much stronger than this one is. His value, in all likelihood, would fall if he stays another year. Even if he became a better player.

One would think his Dad would know, and would be advising him

Because next year's draft is stronger and Hardaway is what he is at this point. He might as well go get paid now.

If you want to talk about bad advisors - that's whoever told Marcus Smart to come back to school.

Here are his stats

Tim Hardaway Jr. Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com

He did improve this year from last year, but his big time improvement opportunities are done IMO as his numbers were so close to his soph year.

Ridiculous. There are a million ways Hardaway can improve. Or are you saying that Marble isn't going to improve much by coming back to Iowa? Then Marble should just leave according to that rationale? Hardaway's draft "stock" might not improve but I think the majority of guys that come back for their senior year get better, assuming that they have a good coach to develop them which not all of them have. Beilien is a good coach and the fact that Hardaway will have to be a more aggressive player next year with Burke gone will only help him.

Also just because his "numbers" (scoring, rebounding, assts) didn't jump much from the previous year, doesn't mean he wasn't a better player. There are only so many shots to go around and he had McGary, Burke, GRIII and Stauskas there as well.

Unrealistic to think Iowa could finish higher than Michigan State or Ohio State? Where do you think Iowa's starting backcourt ranks in the Big Ten?

If he thought he could get a lot better and position himself better for the draft, he'd be staying. You're starting to become a characterature of yourself, and more like an annoying fan from another team who just wants to stir things up every post. That doesn't carry a long term prognosis.

I think higher than MSU is a bit unrealistic...probably OSU, but that may not be unrealistic. As for starting backcourt...I dont know. It's solid but I haven't dug in yet....PSU is gonna have a real nice backcourt. Iowa's probably Top four for sure.

How can he get that much better? He's a shooter, that's it. I doubt he magically develops a slashing/driving/ great ballhandling skill set. Comparing to Marble is dumb, he's made more improvements incrementally every year and has developed different parts of his game each year. he has a lot more to develop as far as his perimeter shooting. Also, I don't see how anybody gets automatically better with Burke leaving. Burke created so many shots, and open shots by drawing the defense, that Hardaway won't get more "good" looks by having Burke gone.

Please Jon, do it. AB is annoying and just trolls all the time. Please rid this board of his arrogance.

Just remember John, "you can't hide your point guard in college basketball" (and if Gesell goes down for a very long stretch next season the Hawks are looking at 5th place of worse)

Obviously modifying a Steve Deace famous quote - LOL
