It is good to see some new blood will win the SBowl. I am pulling for the Chiefs to end nearly 50 years of late season collapses and early exits from the playoffs and win the Super Bowl. Do they have the defense this year?

Wow, Henry and the Titans showed what you can do with a great running game and this was against a top defense.

Who are you pulling for?

I like to root for the teams with the most ex-Hawkeyes on their roster. The Bill's also lost yesterday, with 3 ex-Hawks. So the candidates are now

GB Packers (Josh Jackson, Bryan Bulaga)
KC Chiefs (Ben Nieman, Anthony Hitchens)
Minn Vikings (Jaleel Johnson, Riley Reiff)
Eagles (Keegan Render)
SF 49ers (CJ Beathard, George Kittle, Ross Reyonlds)
Tenn Titans (Parker Hesse, Amani Hooker)
Balt Ravens (Marshall Yanda)

So following my own rule, I will be rooting for the Eagles over Seahawks and vikings over the Saints today.

Next week it gets trickier.

The NFC has the best collection of teams, but I don't see anyone stopping Baltimore.

Barring injury, Lamar Jackson will be dominating the league for the next 8-10 years.

My Bears arent in it, blew it last year as everyone knows, so in the NFC I am going with the 49ers. the 9ers are exciting, play tough defense, kittle and their offense is fun to watch.

Definitely not a Pack or Vikings fan, Eagles have always been meh to me.

The Titans now seem like a nice underdog to pull for as long as they arent playing the Chiefs. D Henry is a beast.

Stealing Jackson at the end of the first round in 2018 was retiring Raven GM Ozzie Newsome's last great draft heist.

With his low key approach, Newsome was probably the best draft shark of the past quarter century. He selected Jonathon Ogden and Ray Lewis with the relocated franchises' first two picks in 1996 and never looked back.

Former Hawk Marshall Yanda, a sure fire future Hall of Famer, was another Newsome gem.

One poster mentioned the Chiefs' long drought. It would be cool for Niemann and Hitchens and probably punch Andy Reid's ticket for the Hall of Fame in his own right.

I'm going 49'ers. They look like the most balanced team. They can salt a game away with their running game if they need to and have the weapons to come back late if they need to. They can win ugly or pretty. Their defense is salty. They matched up well with Baltimore when they met during the season. They remind me A LOT of the late '90's Broncos who were coached by Shanahan's father.

Long time Niner fan. A number of teams can win this.

SF came out of toughest division. Tough road poss at Ravens witb RB out.

Ravens best record. KC overcame advedriity.

Patriots remind me of Iowa. Key parts to win. Key parts missing that give severe handicaps.

Yesterday was probably the end of the line for Buffalo's Frank Gore, who has had an unbelievable career.

He blew out both knees in college and could conceivably have never had an NFL career at all. He was also competing for carries with Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee for a team that was sort of stacked at running back. (It was like when tOSU had Robert Smith, Raymont Harris, Carlos Snow and Eddie George-on one team)

Instead he's lasted fifteen years. At running back. He's moved up the list in a lot of career rushing statistics and has been a model of consistency.

I would compare him to former NBA'er Derek Smith (RIP, also a member of Louisville's 1980 team) Derek had knee issues early in his career and fell off the map for a while, then came back with the Clippers and others and had an endless career as a consistent performer. Piled up a lot of points.

Packers. Only because no one else is. And i am usually wrong. But I don’t think Bulaga is in the league much longer. Probably be the 49’ers though.

Ravens/49ers or Ravens/Saints

Andy Reid is a great coach I just don't trust him in a big spot.

Not quite there on Lamar Jackson. Does he continue to evolve or does the league catch up to him? Everything points to him evolving, but as a Steeler fan I saw this with Kordell Stewart, he made a splash, the league caught up to him and he never adjusted. It is 2020, so maybe they won't try to change Lamar and Baltimore will just ride it out.

I thought about that, as you've seen it over and over in the NFL, but my feeling is that Jackson is a unique animal.

Teams will adjust somewhat, but you just can't scheme against that skill set. Father time will have to do it.

No one has the durability to run like that and last in the NFL.

The wild-catty QB is a gimmick that works great in college, but beyond that it’s just a couple flashy seasons and NFL defenses are on to you. Those guys can outrun college defensive linemen and linebackers, but not at the pro level. Cam Newton was going to be the next big thing too, but that has totally flopped.

There’s a reason why Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Favre, Elway, Marino, Montana are the goats, and none of those guys could run worth a F.

Mahomes, Jackson, et al are great talents no doubt, but their careers will fizzle out due to injury and general wear and tear.

That's basically what I meant by "father time." The wear and tear will catch up to him, but the thing about Jackson, unlike Newton et al, is that he almost never takes a direct hit.

But, I disagree that he is just another wild cat type QB. He's a unique talent - a quicker, faster Michael Vick with Patrick Mahomes' arm. The NFL has never seen anything like him.

It will be interesting to see how his career plays out.

That's pretty much how I root for NFL teams.
I'm like oh so and so plays for them. Like you said it gets trickier when each team has Hawks on it, but then I just root for the players themselves to have a good game win or lose.

Go Pack Go baby. Though I'm scared they'll sleep walk thru the first half of the divisional game like they did all season.

Chiefs fan second, and if neither of them can do it, I'd be okay with the Niners, Saints, Ravens, or Titans winning it. Just please no Seattle or Minnesota.
