OSU-Michigan cancelled

Rain is still wet. Folks have been predicting this for almost a month... There was no way Michigan was going to show up to take that ass beating. The white flag has been thrown up. IDC how many kids supposedly have covid. They weren't playing this game

I said in another thread before the game was cancelled it's the ultimate kick in the nuts from a rival. This is on the Big Ten for not putting make up dates into the schedule and and putting the decision making in the hands of the athletic departments.

Like I said in the other thread. Look at Minnesota...Possibly Wiscy's biggest rival gets to make the decision that, regardless of winning out, ended any chances of Wiscy playing in the Big Ten Championship. Also a program that "hates Iowa" puts NW into the Conference Championship and eliminates Iowa from any miraculous outcomes the last two weeks that could have knocked NW out of the championship.

Michigan gets out of getting their asses kicked and gets to watch their biggest rival get robbed of playing in a conference championship and possible costing them at playoff birth without even stepping on the field. In a season that doesn't matter the Big Ten absolutely dropped the ball and embarrassed themselves for the way things were handled.

So this means that with a W this weekend, Iowa gets Ohio State in the last week, right?

I am pretty sure you are correct. If Wisky beats Iowa they will be 2nd and matchup with OSU on the 19th otherwise flip flop it and the hawks could have a great chance at a statement game.

For sure all those factors come into play it's not any one thing. Crazy as set of circumstances. 2020 at it's finest. Journalists will have fun trying to paint the whole picture of all this down the road.

Beat Wisky, you get OSU. But, better bring it as they will be balls to the wall I'm sure trying to make a statement to the committee. That said, we want to play the best.

Iowa vs Ohio St would be the defacto Big Ten title game for many...even though the winner will not be declared the official champs.

But the writing was there perfectly on the wall when Wiscy cancelled the Nebby game because they were down to their 3rd string QB...Not because they were scared, but because they had all the power to make the decision and why chance it. We've gone from standings being determined on the field, to a conference that rewrote the rules and allowed the season to be determined from 14 individual offices with no control by the league. Looks like the conference cost themselves a ton of money and a spot in the playoffs.

I would have loved to have seen that if it meant something. Wasn't there talk of Indy hosting additional games other than just the Championship? Wouldn't that be the biggest kick in the nuts if OSU had to make the trip to Indy and play in anything other than the Big Ten championship.

Personally, I'm thinking Ohio State would rather play NW than Iowa. Iowa has the size on defense to stop their running game...at least making them one dimensional...although that one dimension will kick your ass all over the field.

I would love to see us play OSU though...if anything to see how we match up.

No fucking way the Big Ten doesn't change the eligibility rule to allow OSU to play in the title game.

Ain't no way they don't take care of the darling of the Big Ten. Remember a couple weeks ago when I said they were going to reneg on the rules to get OSU in the playoff? Well get ready to see it boys.

Have they confirmed the champ week games are going to be domed? The conference pretty much needs to figure out a way to get the #2 game domed right now. Wisconsin and Iowa are nowhere near as good as OSU, but if they have to play outside on December 19, the potential for an upset goes from about 0.5% to 25%. You simply can't risk the playoff berth on playing the golden child in bad weather against a team with a good o-line and a few disruptive guys in the front 7 on defense. It's way too risky.

A. You gents who want Iowa to play OSU are nuts. I will take my chances with that plucky Indiana squad.
B. I concur there is no fucking way OSU is not playing in the title game. Either they let OSU schedule someone else on the fly, or just change the standard.

Nope. Because the Big Ten is going to change the eligibility rule. They'll coddle the golden child.

No way. They can't. They can't sanctimoniously tell Nebraska to pound sand and then change the rules on a whim. Indiana versus Northwestern is set in stone, breh. That is good for the conference. It is also better for the conference for OSU to pummel Iowa or Wisconsin. Way more brand draw and either way it is guaranteed to be a top 20 game. Jesus, what if Northwestern loses to Illinois and isn't ranked?

Yup. And let's not forget who's chairing the committee deciding all this.... Ole Barta I'm sure would gladly put a good word in for OSU and the BIG I would bet. (if not ordered to by the other powers that be)
