Orange Bowl not televised on mediacom

I have both services right now. I am getting 30MBs connecti times with my mediacom internet. THe television isn't as good but my fast internet connection is the trump card here. I have NEVER had connection problems with my internet through mediacom. DIrect tvs internet service is ...well non existant.

DIsh network has far and away the best picture of all 3. They have way more bandwidth to send the picture.

Was I talking about DirecTv's internet service.........um - NO!

I don't blame Mediacom. According to Mediacom Sinclair wants atleast double the price. If Mediacom ends up paying the money it can only mean one thing for Mediacom subscribers: A Higher Bill. It kinda sucks that Sinclair is using the Bowl game for leverage. If you have a HD TV you can buy an HD antenna to pick up Fox for about 10-20 dollars which is not that bad. So if you have an HD TV and do not want to pay to switch to Direct TV a 10 dollar antenna might be a cheaper alternative.

Its difficult to defend a company like Mediacom whose track record for great customer service has been non-existent. Terrible queue call waiting times, malfunctioning service (internet/phone), and extraordinarily higher prices than other local competitors have dug a deep whole of consumer confidence for this company. Even if the rates that Sinclair have purposed are higher, Mediacom suffers from its own doing.

Is Sinclair charging too much for the right to rebroadcast? Well, I'd like to see the cost per channel before I'm jumping on Mediacom's side on this one. Sinclair wants double? Double of what? How does the demands of Sinclair compare to OTHER channels? Why does ImOn, Dish Network, and DirectTV seem to get a contract done then? I don't dispute that Sinclair is wanting higher revenues for its channels but I'd love to look at the numbers before making a decision.

Lets also not forget that because Sinclair is providing the Superbowl, Orange Bowl, 24, American Idol, ... that they are also bringing in higher advertising revenue for Mediacom (If I'm not mistaken the rebroadcasting channel does get its own advertising spots).

I saw a report on KGAN this morning while at the gym (of course, it's biased on their part). It says that Mediacom's average bill has $3.50 per subscriber going to ESPN and $1 each going to USA, TBS, etc. Sinclair said they're asking for 50 cents per subscriber. If Mediacom's claim that's double what they're already paying, that means they currently pay a quarter per subscriber.

During that same report, and on an ad on KFXA, they suggest that Mediacom subscribers call Mediacom to stop grandstanding and settle with Sinclair, otherwise, they want people to either switch to DirecTV or Dish, or get an antenna.

They said about 5 years ago that all Tv was going to pay channels and it looks like were close.I have Dish and couldn't be happier(I'm sure Direct is good also). The problem some are going to have when they want to switch is the long waiting line to get there's in.They might have to wait until after the game or even later.
