Only 3 players...

... away from being pretty good. A wr who can catch a pass. This position has been the biggest kf failure. A true rb. Wisky has 2 & we have one who is a true freshman. Lastly and I may get the ban hammer fir this but a safety. Tanner Miller is horrendous and wouldn't start on any other big team. I have been pleasantly surprised with coaching but kf inability to recruit at key positions is the reason f or our failures.

I really hope Daniels can be the guy we need...he looks the part. That said "and I know he's a true frosh with Very limited work thus far" he's got a bunch if improvement to go in vision and contact. We will know by very early next year.

Daniels, Bullock, Canzeri, and Weisman(in a FB role that gets 5-10 a game) is a damn decent stable...if...dare I say...used correctly....and rremain healthy...both Big ifs.

Go Hawks.

I am glad I wont be around for the Michigan game as I dont relish Millers call out for senior day. I would like to see what we could do with the rb situation if we start Canzeri and Daniels. Also what would happen if we get the ball to Powell with more regularity and actually use the three tight end set? Maybe that could be your three players we need to get going.

We have not had a quality wide receiver for sometime...We have had some running backs we need to quit losing out on them to Wisconsin...safeties have always been projects under this staf...unacceptable.

Keenen Davis was a quality WR. As was Mcnutt and DJK.

Safeties: Sanders, Considine, Sash, Greenwood just off the top of my head. None of those guys were projects. Safety has been one of the more reliable positions on the team for the better part of the Ferentz era.

We do need to do a better job of recruiting runningbacks with speed.

100% agree with HawkeyeGunner.

Canzeri should start - he can at least recognize a cut back line and is shifty enough to make a LB miss in the open field - plus he could stay on the field on 3rd down and be used as a screen option

Bullock should be used as a slot receiver - he has shown he has good hands (which we are lacking at the WR position) and he would be good on the quick slant and crossing routes that are sorely missing from this offense.

Daniels shows the best pure RB potential of our group and I think he has shown enough flashes to earn at least 10 snaps a game or at least a couple of series to be the main back.

I am fed up with the BS that Powell needs to learn the playbook more to get more playing time. The kid is fast and it doesn't take a comprehensive knowledge of our vanilla playbook to run go routes and quick screens - the kid is a junior and his presence on the field at least draws the opposing safety's attention and maybe at the very least helps open up some running lanes by drawing the defenses attention and preventing the constant 8 men in the box.

I still like Weisman a lot - but he doesn't have the burst to be a starting RB in the Big 10, especially when he is running the same play (stretch zone run to the left behind Scherff) 90% of the time - it doesn't take a mastermind to gameplan to stop one play.

The 3 tight end set needs to be used more often - it worked against OSU, yet we have not made a real effort to go back to effectively using the formation. I am one of the many fans that just can't understand how we are not at least targeting CJ a minimum of 5 times a game. Duzey and Hamilton have proven to be capable pass catchers who deserve more targets their way too.

If he doesn't get cheered, I'd be very disappointed in our fanbase. I think he's played terribly, but he is a Hawkeye and you don't boo your own players.

Anyone that boos a kid on senior day should be kicked out. Or kicked in the face.

Actually we need a decent punter as well. You can't play a conservative brand of football without having a punter that can flip the field from time to time.

We have a decent punter. What we don't have is a great punter.

I truly hope Jay Scheel is brought in and can have a similar transition to WR as McNutt. I say similar because there's just no way a guy can come in and do what McNutt did.

If I had a time machine and invisibility cloak, I would go back in time and use the invisibility cloak to knock out everyone who booed Shada on senior day.

Anyway, Iowa is prolly the following away from being good:

- Receiver on the level of Justin Blackmon or Michael Crabtree
- RB on par with Jerome Bettis
- DE who is comparable to Clowney
- Bob Sanders

You put those 4 pieces on this team and with this coaching staff, I think we'd have at least 7 wins by now.

I won't be disappointed, for the sole reason that I fully expect him to get booed. We have a lot of dumbasses who go to games at Kinnick, and Miller has long been in the Shada Zone in terms of fan angst. He shouldn't, but he very likely will get a solid chorus of boos.

Scheel strikes me more as the DJK type. People forget that DJK was also a high school quarterback, and Scheel has a similar build as a high school senior.

Weisman as a tb should be scrapped and move him back to fb. He can still get touches. Then tb is by committee.

When Weisman is your tailback you have major issues at the position. James White, Melvin Gordon and Clement are all head and shoulders above Weisman. The only D1 quality RB is Daniels and he is really green.

I'm just fed up with Greg Davis. Let's see, the 3 TE set killed the buckeyes, but now we have used it once and someone might see it so let's go back to something they have seen for over a decade and see if we can surprise them. The game plans are just puzzling to me and the lack of adjustments is horrible.

Also, I say every game that Miller is horrible, he's another non-D1 player playing, but it is what it is, it's KF. FYI, not all 11th hour small town safety scholly offers are equal (both Lowdermilk and Miller were late late offers, very fall back, and neither have shown worthy of starting in the B1G, IMO)

It wouldn't matter with the clueless coaching staff we had..

The Tanner Miller QQ is getting old. He has had 2 pretty good games. 9 tackles against the mildcats, he ha had a critical interception against the bad-gers. He has 3 interceptions already this year! He even hurried the bad-ger qb on a safety blitz that resulted in an incomplete pass. The guy has worked hard through 2 changes in db coach, all this after being lightly recruited. We all should be proud of how he has persevered, and become a good player.

I am sure Tanner Miller is playing as hard as he can and the best he can, with a few errors in the passing game, but unfortunately he is playing a position that has been normally very strong for KF teams. The hawks have but a lot of safeties in the pros over the last 15 years.

I will cheer Tanner Miller loudly when he comes on the field on Sr Day. People that boo are idiots.
