10 years from now, you wouldn't other than brand perception. People are always going to assume a 12 win OSU team was better than 12 win Iowa team. But how would you know which team is better?

Two teams have a 12-2 win loss record at the end of the season. Just by the win loss record which team is better?
As Dean said, you can break it down but that doesn't turn close losses into moral victories or a tough schedule into more wins. But how would you know which team is better?
Who is saying that you can't look at two teams with the same record and break things down? Of course you can. It is the argument that 12 wins "isn't really 12 wins" that is stupid. Sorry, but it is. Just like 8 wins isn't actually 10 wins because we played a tough schedule. Heck that has been ISU slogan for the past 8 years, well we played such a tough schedule, we didn't REALLY win 3 games, we actually won 6 because we had to play 3 top 20 teams.

I'm speaking generally to fans that want to be way too qualitative. At the end of the day you either did the job or you didn't. That's how it works where I'm employed and I don't have a $10M buyout.Refer to my response above to deanvogs.
Furthermore, I NEVER SAID anything about TAKING AWAY or ADDING wins or losses in any of my comments. Please show me a comment by me that gave you that idea?
From the article:
The Hawkeyes have gone from No. 59 in 2014 to No. 58 in 2015 to No. 42 in 2016 to No. 40 in 2017 to No. 39 in 2018. Those aren’t crazy numbers but it shows how hard it is for one team to improve each year. Iowa's 2019 class currently ranks in the top 30.
Nebraska and Utah both fell back in 2018 after rising in the previous four recruiting cycles. The Huskers finished No. 32 in 2014, No. 31 in 2015, No. 24 in 2016 and No. 20 in 2017 before falling back, barely, to No. 21 in 2018. Their 2019 class is currently ranked just inside the top 30.
Average recruiting ranking of '14-'17 classes: Iowa 50th, Nebraska 27th
Average score in Iowa vs. Nebraska matchup last 3 years: Iowa 41, Nebraska 15
