One and Done or NIT Championship

Not me, because if they are playing in the NCAA, that means they won the Big Ten Tourney, that would be an amazing end to the season.

The OP stated hawks losing on Sunday so no NCAA.

I still say in taking steps to an even better season next year I would take a championship run in NIT. That would be 4 or 5 games for young players.

Especially since the OP had us getting crushed in the first round of NCAA.

And wouldnt it be great for Matt Gatens to come back to Iowa and look at a championship banner.

Blame it on home losses to Campbell, Nebraska, Penn State, and Clemson. Can't lose at home to 100+ RPI teams. Cannot happen.

The non-conference was bad, the UNI game also hurts...the margin of loss in those games was just terrible, so there is that stigma heading into conference play.
Too many bad losses with a very, very, very poor schedule in the non-con. Hopefully it changes in the future, the tournament Iowa is going to be in, if they play well, will be a good start.

When it comes down to it, there are three games that really hurt and to me they were conference games:
@PSU, Nebraska and Purdue
Having big leads and trickling down their leg against Nebraska and Purdue especially really hurt. Win two, or all three of those and Iowa has 10 or 11 wins...really tough to dispute them being squarely on the NCAA bubble with that record.

which makes the rpi look even more useless, a team that goes 6-3 against Top 25 teams cannot crack the RPI 100, is wrong on so many fronts

Again Herby, you don't know what your talkin' about. Iowa is 4-5 against the current top 25. Quit pulling manure out of your butt.

Wins

Wisconsin - 2
Michigan
Indiana

Losses

Ohio State
Michigan State
Indiana
Creighton
Iowa State

I really wish I lived in your fantasy world!

Going 8-5 in non-conf with that horridly bad schedule really hurt Iowa.

7 of those games were to teams that have a KenPom rating of 240 and higher (and they lost to one of those).

That can't happen.

Don't blame the RPI - it's just showing what Iowa did.

That and you just cannot lose to Nebraska at home. That one keeps haunting me, if they only had that one back.......

Which is why Iowa will get what they deserve and so will most teams. You don't want to be in that position then don't lose to crappy teams. Which is why Izzo's comment about "getting their title back" is so stupid. You had your chance at an outright title and you lost your last 2 games. God I hope we come to play tomorrow.

I would be ecstatic if Iowa made the NCAA and more than fine with an NIT bid. All things considered, if Iowa did win four in four days to make the NCAA, it wouldn't be unrealistic to see Iowa at anywhere from a 10-14 seed. If that did happen it wouldn't be a stretch for them to win a first round game. Very unlikely but most definitely not impossible.
