Has the lower seed next to Iowa EVER won an ncaa game? It's chalk all the way in our bracket.

But at least the Hawks pulled one today..

I thought this was an interesting question, so I looked it up.

The last time Iowa played a non-chalk opponent in the NCAA tournament was in 1987, when #2 seed Iowa played #6 Oklahoma (who beat #3 Pitt in the previous game) in the regional semifinal - one game before the meltdown against UNLV.

The year before, #11 seed Iowa could have played #14 Arkansas Little Rock in the second round had they won, but they lost to #6 NC State in 2OT in the first round.

Crazy.

just a heads up: Tennessee ain't that far from Columbus either. Another home gm [more or less!] for our opponent

That's what I've been saying all along, Knoxville is only a 3 1/2 hour drive to Columbus.
