On the botched punt

Having just watched a @hassel_chris tweet, I think we need to give a little love to number 16 for Iowa, he appears to give the Iowa State dude a little shove that ensured the clown would be certain to run into the punt returner. For some reason, I can’t get the clip to copy tho

It was not really a shove, just more of a "come this way bro" move. Well executed.

The gunners and the coverage guys often talk smack all night because these guys sit on the bench for almost half an hour before seeing the field and the coaches get the kids extra hyped because playing the punt unit is like a "one play drive" to try and get the best play possible.

Devonte Young, the guy who recovered the ball, made a great play because the ball often bounces out of bounds or doesn't get recovered. He has been in the program for four years and changed positions but always been on special teams and last night was his big payoff for all the time and work he had put in.

I mean if any thing, their guy pushes off of Robert's when trying to get out of the way, but yeah it was a smart move by him to lead him that way.
This.

When I saw the replay from behind, it did look as if Roberts might have gave a small shove. But, when you see the view from the front, it's obvious that the ISU player completely initiated the contact. In fact, his focus on trying to block Roberts is what caused him to lose sight of the PR.

Uh, no. The clone player clearly gives Roberts the shove. Pretty obvious. You'll notice nobody on the clown sidelines makes the slightest move to complain.
FYI, it wasn't a botched punt...it was a great punt. It was a botched return.

This kind of hand fighting goes on with every punt. And Roberts was simply running towards the returner in case, oh, he muffed it or something. ;)

This is also an example of the no advancing a muff rule helping us. If Young takes that in it's still a one score game.

I wonder if he would have had the awareness to just fall on it if the rule didn't exist and he was trained to be prepared to advance it.

Since there would be nothing to complain about, it’s not surprising no one on the clown sideline complained. It’s also equally obvious we provided escort to the clone to run into the other clone, otherwise a good football play.

Hilarious.. Talk about a bunch of ****ups. Right after we run a play out of bounds on 3rd down saving them about 40 seconds, and 10 yards by taking 2 stupid penalties, then they do that..
