On the botched punt

All I know is from the first time I saw this, and the hundreds (I mean hundreds) of times I've watched it since all I see is a Clown giving a Hawk a friendly tap saying he's going to light the returner up. And boom what a hit it was. Possibly the best hit of the game on either side of the ball.

Hilarious.. Talk about a bunch of ****ups. Right after we run a play out of bounds on 3rd down saving them about 40 seconds, and 10 yards by taking 2 stupid penalties, then they do that..

It's called scripting and if none of it had played out the way it did we may never have got to see such pure gold.

This is also an example of the no advancing a muff rule helping us. If Young takes that in it's still a one score game.

I wonder if he would have had the awareness to just fall on it if the rule didn't exist and he was trained to be prepared to advance it.

Well he did just fall on it because it was so bang bang quick. Give Young credit for good hands and not muffing it out of bounds.

Young also drew a block in the back on a kickoff return per the post game people that put ISU at their 5 yard line which led to a punt and short field for a fg. little things

Also the angle that Young was coming from would have made it difficult to stay inbounds had he tried to run with it. In any case, he made the smart play and it worked out for the best.

Yes, not trying to drag this discussion out anymore but after the 10 yards in penalties we punted from the hawk 36 and the ball came down about 18, another great punt by sleep-dalton. The fumble play was over at 1:29 so if the hawks had been able to run that extra 40 seconds off the clock and ISU fields a fair catch they would have had 49 seconds to go about 50 yards to even have a longish 48 or so yard field goal try.

I really liked the hawks chances in that situation where they can all out rush the passer and any tackle short of a first down runs off about 10 extra seconds.

There is not any penalty for a shove that is not from behind and that is not holding.

If the defender had shoved the guy into the receiver that could have been interference . He was not far from being too close, especially if the receiver had to move up and to his left.

Regardless it was hysterical.
