I think it just reflects what we have become as a society. I was going to post this in the other thread but it got taken down. Kids these days want everything to be given to them, they want scholarship offers from Big Schools and slumber parties with guys who started for the Indianapolis Colts almost thirty years ago. We don't have any kids with the real killer instinct any more. Like kids who could hunt deer with their own hands. Thats the kind of kid we need at Iowa. I don't care if Martin stays at Michigan or not, but I think that its a different world today than the one that I grew up in.
Hardly.
I think their best wr had like 25 catches (Nick had what 50?). I think there best wr had like 300 yards (Nick had what 500?)
Yeah Josey Jewell has no killer instinct. Attacks on Millenials are so lame. The same people who talk so much garbage about them are the same folks who invented the Participation Trophy they so often complain about. Every generation is different...doesn't mean better or worse, just different. Don't be that guy.
Yeah basically if we can get a few guys to step up, we should have a pretty potent offense. Lots of ifs from ol to wr, but Nate should be solid, te should be solid, rb should be solid.I actually don't know it for a fact. I just assume because Michigan every year has more explosive receivers than we do. Hope I'm wrong this year.

Yeah I feel that is the type of player that Iowa tries to avoidThat may be a problem at Michigan, but it is definitely not a problem at Iowa
I was that guy. On these boards. Twice. I'm not taking back what I posted but I'm not over playing my hand any more. I'll state only that it's human nature for the older generation to put down the next. And this generation will be doing the same in twenty years. And another one in forty.Yeah Josey Jewell has no killer instinct. Attacks on Millenials are so lame. Ding ding. Kids are still kids. Everyone is a product of how they are raised and their environment. I'm so glad I grew up when I did where I did. My Dad wasn't rich but we never went without. Rarely got what I wanted but always had what I needed. For me to complain as much as I did at the time as a kid makes me want to apologize to him every day for it now... It's just nuts how the world has changed in barely a generation.I'm part of Gen X and I see how they are raising their kids. My generation is without a doubt awful when it comes to parenting. We are more to blame than Millenials.
I had to work summers to help pay for my own tuition, etc. When I got my degree I probably appreciated it more than others who didn't pay a dime but didn't know how to face adversity if it bit them in the ass and responded by flunking out or partying out. Kids who had 3.8 GPA's in high school. Had a 1.0 in the all important class called "Lessons Learned Outside The Classroom 101".Ding ding. Kids are still kids. 4:30 am wakeup calls in the dead of winter for practice? Uhh not for me at that age.All of this talk about entitlement by Millennials doesn't seem to be relevant to Oliver Martin. He seems like a very self-motivated, hard-working, earn-it guy! Not a lot of high school football players could stick it out through Swimming practices.

Man if he had troubles with Michigan's playbook there'd be no hope that he could grasp ours :0
Of course there's over generalizing when grouping anyone up. That goes for about anything. But if you were to go generalizing how folks that are currently in their 50s grew up compared to those in their 30s and those that are currently in college early 20s it's changed drastically I think is the overarching point of what we're getting at.Every generation thinks the next generation is going to ruin everything. Its always been that way. My dad used to explain to me why he thought Nirvana, Green Day and STP were no-talent losers.
I have to laugh at the people who claim today's kids are just lazy and eat tide pods...considering every generation for about 150 years put tobacco in their mouth, set it on fire, and breathed it into their lungs 10 times a day every day for their entire lives...
