Everything in disarray leading up to Insight

I'm reading some of the notes from the press conference Bob Stoops just finished, and their program has some serious issues right now. I am liking Iowa's chances more and more.

The biggest piece of news from the PC is that one of their best defensive players, Ronnell Lewis, is academically ineligible for the Insight Bowl.

Edit: In the 27 hours or so since this thread was started, Iowa has joined Oklahoma in disarray. Coach Ferentz just wanted to show solidarity with Stoops, since he's a former Hawk.

Missouri called and said sometimes a wounded animal is dangerous.

Missouri didn't start the season ranked #1, nor did they limp into the game. They were a 10-2 team that finished the regular season winning three straight.

OU was #1 to start, got smoked in their last game of the year, which was their third loss, not in a BCS bowl.

My guess is the 'give a damn' factor is on Iowa's side...we'll see if its enough

I took his post to mean that Iowa was the team that was highly ranked and had a poorer than expected season, then showed up huge in the Insight Bowl. OU is in a really similar situation to what Iowa was in a year ago is what he's saying.

Yes, you would be right. Sorry Duff.

Ding Ding Ding.. I think that went over Jon's head.

OU was #1 in the country for seven weeks, not just in the preseason.

On paper, they do seem to be limping, and without motivation. They have talent, and could still crush Iowa, but I do think if the Hawks can come out strong, get up early, maybe they will struggle to comeback strong.

Yeah as this game is getting closer and closer I'm liking Iowa's chances more and more. Have a feeling OU's players would much rather be on holiday vacation or getting ready for the NFL combine than wanting to be in Tempe on the 30th.

In addition IIRC we also lost some pretty talented skill position players late in the season.

Not too much chatter over on Scout's Sooner board about the game. The line has dropped 2.5 from its opening, if that means anything. . .

Even with those guys out, and the fact that their heart may not be in it, they still have more talent, speed and dth then Iowa. A few years ago Texas didn't want to be in the Alamo bowl and especially thought we were to lowly to play. Yes Iowa hung with them....but in the long run their talent won over their lack of heart and desire.

And a very favorable call by the officials negating a touchdown for Iowa. Also consider that was basically a home game for them while if anything Iowa will have more fans in this one.

I doubt Oklahoma even knows when the game is being played.

Oklahoma caring about the JV Fiesta Bowl is like Donald Trump caring to take the time to bend over a pick up a $20 that someone else dropped.
