Oklahoma / Big 12

If Oklahoma would say yes to the B1G, I could see them taking Kansas in a package deal. Now I have no idea what their academic resume is and we all now how bad they've been at football but they are a basketball blue blood. Jim added Rutgers so we know big sport success isn't exactly a priority

As far as Texas goes, I couldn't easily see them going independent if they can secure 5/6 long term annual contracts with teams like Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor, etc. basically be the ND of the south. they certainly are arrogant enough to pull a move like that. But would any former Big 12 teams agree to play them on an annual basis after they spearhead the destruction of the conference?

Agreed. There ain't much Jon and I agree on but his take for why ESPN is failing is dead on...the political bs has a negligible impact was my point. This past year I cut the cable and have been using Sling and PlayStation but was frustrated with the lack of selection. I anticipate that changing as the streaming catches on.

I might disagree with you about the political bs and impact... that's why I quit watching ESPN. Full disclosure, I don't like most any politics at this point, virtually none of them are trustworthy. When I ranted about it and started to ask others, I'd racked up a dozen other people real quick who said they felt the same way. I don't want news or sports with an agenda. I just want to be told what happened, I can make up my own mind.

The business model has changed. Even if they lost 100k viewers because of perceived politics (sorry I've never noticed it to be honest), it wouldn't matter one bit. Hell 200k doesn't make a dent. Politics has nothing to do with their hundreds of millions of dollars in losses.

I don't disagree about the business model changing. Not in the least. And ESPN was the only holdout for me cutting the chord. But when I did that was the reason why. And for my small sample size of perhaps a hundred people and 10-12 had done the same thing, I think it's a larger dent than 1% of viewers.
By the way, judging by your handle you have some affiliation with Oklahoma State. My wife was born in Stillwater, graduated from there. Nice town.

Regardless of anybody's opinion, Texas is the big prize followed by Notre Dame and then Oklahoma. I feel like the Pac 12 might be in the best position to bring in Texas and Oklahoma. The reason I think this is simply because they have 12 teams instead of 14 so they have a little more flexibility. They could lure Texas and maybe a second Texas team like TCU or Houston to establish a firm presence in Texas. If the Pac 12 could lure Texas, I'm sure they could lure Oklahoma as well and since that would put them at 15 teams, they could accommodate Oklahoma State as well.

Texas is a cancer to a conference.
