Found some cheap tickets out of Sioux Falls, SD. Since I moved to NW Iowa it is pretty close for us. Looking for hotel recommendations close to any hawkeye activites. Also any advice on parties for the 31st and 1st???? Appreciate any help you guys may be able to give me. Also I need some tixs to get into the game...once in I will be in Clayborn's luxury suite :) OH YEAH

Expert help?

Never pay with a credit card and make sure she's not a cop...

How can you tell she's not a cop?

I've heard from someone or read in a book or something that sometimes they want you to show them your junk right away to make sure that you aren't a cop.

Go to the parade in Ybor City and ring in the New Year's there.

Does anyone going, or has gone in the past, know of where a lot of Hawk fans have stayed or are staying at? I know that there are hotels near the airport/stadium, as well as some near Downtown Tampa, Ybor City and then Busch Gardens. Just thought I would check and see if there is a location or two that a guy would rather stay by, as I am heading down on the 28th. Thanks!

If you are going to be there on the 28th, Clearwater Beach is a good place to spend the first couple nights. I generally stay downtown New Years Eve. The two biggest Hawk bars from previous Outback Bowls are now shutdown. I keep hoping somebody organizes a Hawk gathering for the basketball game.

We've gone twice to the Outback.
Last time, we stayed at the Quality Inn on Dale Mabry and about half of the hotel was Iowa fans.
You stay anywhere within 5 miles of the stadium and will find Iowa fans.
There will be, at least, 20,000 Iowa fans in Tampa.
I think the Iowa team will be staying at the Grand Hyatt hotel.

Ybor City is kind of a rough area, noisy this time of year, but will be hopping on December 31-January 1 at night.
Busch Gardens are the best value hotels, but mostly 2 1/2 star and below.
Downtown are the most expensive, but nicest hotels.
Airport area has some nice hotels for the price.

Go to the Tampa Bay I Club site---I believe it's TBIC.com---and they will have all the info on where they meet/watch the games (I think it's still Boston's). I can give you a contact phone number via PM if you like.

Thanks HawkeyeBob. You can give me the number via PM, but I am not sure how that works.
Found website.

There are alot of great hotels I am sure, the Grand Hyatt is where the team is staying and its close to airport but not the Airport that Alligiant flys into if thats who you got in sioux falls. Ybor city is fun some micro out door type bars there. The huddle is a must at the Tampa convention center on the 31st. If your there on monday the 30th beach day is fun but crowded but crowds are fun.

Great! Thank you for the info Scooby! I appreciate it. I was thinking that there would likely be a lot of Iowa fans near the stadium. Really good info here guys!

Cool, glad you mentioned where the Huddle was going to be at as I have not seen anything posted on that yet. Haven't made it to Hawkeyesports.com yet today though. Yeah, beach day sounds like a good time as they have some decent info. on Outback BowlOutback Bowl but it isn't team specific.

Ok being late to book was a good thing...I could not find any flights close except for the 29th. So I get to extend my fun in the sun a couple days. Extra bonus I booked the Marriott Waterside where the tour is staying and right next to the convention center where the huddle will be so I can just stumble back to my room.

Just wondering when we went to San Antonio for the Alamo bowl they had an iowa show at the dueling piano bar called how at the moon...it was a blast...would love something like that.

Yes its Howl at the Moon. There is one in Tampa. It is in the district other than Ybor City. Dockside, Bayside, something side. Cant remember. It was a blast the last Outback bowl I was at. Very fun.
