Oh Cowturd

Looks like he's setting up the schedule excuse several weeks before the season starts, but trying to not be so obvious by giving some compliments. Don't be lured into his game by the prediction.

His premise is flawed due to the BIG title game. If Iowa is 11-1 or 12-0 and gets trucked in the title game, they won't make a final 4.

I was thinking the same thing. If we're only winning because of the schedule, then how can we beat such a superior opponent in the B1G champ game? Cowturd is silly. But hey, I'll take another 12-0 season!

Not to mention he credits Ohio State for playing Wisconsin, but acts like it's nothing for Iowa.
Does OSU go up to Wisky this yr or do they get them at home too? Maybe that's the caviot to it. If they play them at home as well I'm with you guys. All the 'national media' heads just don't take the time to look at the whole picture broke down. They look at everything through whatever their specs are and try to judge everyone by it. And it's usually a pretty broad one.

I wrote this before listening to the video. And yes OSU plays Wisky on road we get them at home. But he also was looking at it as a comulative deal with the entire schedule of each. It'll be interesting how it goes. If Iowa doesn't roll through people and wins close tight games yet wins everything again there's just no escaping the narrative of how Iowa is a 'flawed' team due to schedule again... I just hope Iowa can dominate the games they should...

If you want to avoid this if you're Iowa, teams like ND State and Miami OH cannot be on the schedule in the same year. One of those two games has to be a power 5 team and that's all you really have to do to make it look like you are trying to schedule tougher. I think starting in 2018 or 2019, there are open spots where I feel like they are trying to get something done with another power 5 team. Until then, the out of conference schedule's look weak. Hopefully they can figure out a buyout with North Texas or Wyoming and schedule a more interesting game.

Damn, we actually agree on something.

Yet, it didn't matter that we played Wisky on the road last year. Meanwhile, SEC teams schedule just as weak OOC games as us or even weaker.

I see what you are saying but playing a top #1 or #2 FCS team can be better than scheduling a crappy or mediocre P5 team. Better than scheduling Kansas or Vanderbilt. ND State will be no pushover.

It's what Cowherd does. Stirs up crap, has no problem playing the villain towards a fan base. He has to do that stuff to get ratings and get paid. Makes no difference to me.

A lot can happen between now and the B1G Championship. He would not have been talking Iowa without the story. Good publicity. Take care of business and he's right. And he'll be talking about Iowa. Just hope that KF with an 8 point lead in these games doesn't quit blitzing and sending Wadley straight up the middle. If KF does his job, this will be a great story when the time comes.

Better story than black athletes and police officers.

That's the thing. Football die hards get it... The guys on the radio just go by name recognition. Cowherd is exibit A to that. He openly has rattled off like 10 of the big name schools and Iowa and say which one doesn't belong kind of things all the time. So yeah playing NDSU is a way better actual game then a Kansas or even ISU for crying out loud. But Cowherd I guarantee you wouldn't admit to that. For crying out loud the only reason he might know who NDSU is would be because of Carson Wentz getting drafted so high and all that. If it wasn't for him I'd bet he wouldn't know they've won the last 4 or 5 titles whatever it's been plus beaten ISU and Kansas the last few years. NDSU is by far not a pushover.
All that being said.... Iowa does need to step up their non con scheduling going forward. Because to me if you want to join the big wigs at their table to get to that point will mean not necessarily having to run the table to get respect and get in. See that's the only way Iowa can get in is if they bust the door down run the table and make it so their is no subjectivity to it and they can't be left out. By beefing up the schedule going forward and continuing to win is how you begin climbing that ladder of respect..

As much as I dislike this douche-nozzle, I just can't see that he's all that wrong. However, if we go 12-0 or 11-1... Who gives a shit?!!!!!

I'd love to see us schedule top 25 teams OOC every year simply because I love football win or lose and want to see the bigger names and the schools with better traditions. That said, I totally understand why we're not doing it when you see the cupcake OOC schedules many of the teams ranked in front of us are playing.

Fact is there are very few teams loading up on OOC opponents, so when they want to start calling them all out they might have something. But to throw on blinders and pick on Iowa's OOC schedule apart like its anything different than what 75% of the rest of the country is doing is just a joke.

He is wrong, because 1) Iowa didn't choose which teams were in the western division teams, 2) didn't create the crossover BIG10 schedule and 3) all other Power 5 schools typically have a couple of cupcakes on their schedules. He is choosing to single out Iowa for what reason?

Iowa did create a weak non conference schedule. One of the holdovers of the HF regime. Miami OH, NDSU, and ISU. Unfortunately none will likely be blowouts and at least one will be sort of close.
