Official Celebration Thread

I've never made an "offical thread" before. All I have to do is put "official" in the title right?

Regardless let the celebration begin. I'm going to dust off the PS2, pop in NCAA basketball 2005, and put back a few Bush Lights this afternoon to take me back to when we were good.

What's everyone else doing?

Stuck at work unfortunately. But I already had some kabobs planned for the grill after work. I think I will certainly be adding some beverages to that as well. :D

Working ;)

I won't celebrate anything until, assuming Lickliter is terminated, a qualified replacement is hired and the recruiting class is secured.

The firing of Lickliter is not goint to automatically make everything better. Have you guys learned nothing from celebrating Alford's departure a few years ago?

Bring on another Mid Major Coach apparently. Woo hoo.

I'll toast to that, the most excited I've been about Iowa bball in some time.

Could not agree more! I didn't even watch the selection show yesterday,(first time in ages) I had completley lost my taste for hoops.
While I'm sorry for Todd not being able to do the job, I'm sure he is a decent fella, it doesn't keep me from getting excited by the prospect of getting the Iowa Basketball back that I can get behind.
Whomever is chosen, I will get behind them and support them.
All I want to be is, in the discussion on Selection sunday and a chance to play for a championship.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

Yes. We learned that it was definately cause for celebration when SA left and its cause for celebration now. This is Iowa. Any cause for celebration is to be embraced. It helps relieve the boredom.

I believe the lyrics go ''celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music!!''

Unseemly to be pleased with a firing? I agree, but it is a better day than those 58 days that Iowa lost the last three years....58 ruined days....sorry,but we have to do better.

I think it is a little un classy to celebrate someone being fired. The guy tried and it just didn't work out. I'm with Ghost. Let's see who we hire first. Everyone was Hoorah when they fired Alford, and 3 years later he is sitting in the NCAA Big Dance with a 3 seed and we have one of the worst programs in college baskteball.

I'm not celebrating Lickliter's dismissal (assuming it's legit). He seems like a nice guy. I believe he gave everything he could to this program and, for that, I'll never wish him ill will. He is just what I hoped for in the Alford era...a decent guy who brings hardworking Midwest kids to the court. It just didn't work out in the W/L column.

I'm still celebrating Alford's dismissal. He is, and will always be, a grade A jerk. He can have all the basketball success in the world and I'll still be happy he's not here.

I think it's actually pretty sad. I'll never understand some of the venom that certain people have for a coach that doesn't win.

I'm glad Iowa is moving on, but it's nothing to celebrate over.

This isn't an anit lick celebration. This is a pro-change celebration. I nominate Kool and the Gang "celebrate" for the official celebration song.
