yeah, and here's the thing, at no point at any time did I feel that Iowa was not in control of the game. We were up 14-0 so quick. So, I am pretty damn happy that the team is working on the passing game and situation. Against a team like MN, you can be aggressive cause you're at least 2 TD's better than them at all times of the game - so do it. Unfortunately, Iowa rarely plays like that and we have to hear about it from the KF boo birds, so I was pretty happy to see it even if it didn't result in something good. Unfortunately, it opens the door for the same critics.
Thats kind of the way I look at it. It was literally a 2 minute drill in a live game. We were in a position to PRACTICE in a conference game. And people are still unhappy. SMH.

I personally like that Iowa was aggressive going into half and throwing the ball. It was a bad ball by Stanley, but they were still attacking rather than being happy with the score. It's a tough crowd because Iowa typically runs the ball in that position and gets railed for it, they throw the ball and they get railed for it.

I just want to clarify that my comment was not criticism of the coaches decision to go for another score, it was Stanley's decision to throw the ball in that situation.

I liked what Brian did on Saturday. They honestly looked like they were a complete college football team.

I'm a little surprised that Iowa is unranked right now.

I am surprised there has been so little about Iowa as a ranked team, as well. In fact, ESPN's "power ranking" has us at #19 in the country. And, the one I would trust more than any other, which is the NCAA ranking teams 1-130. They have Iowa at #15. Sounds good to me. AP? Coaches? where are you?

I have no problems not being ranked right now, Iowa should have beaten Wisconsin at home. They haven't really beaten anybody yet and I'm sure they will get ranked if they beat Indiana next Saturday. It's rare for a P5 school to get to a 5-1 record and not be ranked.

I actually don't blame Kirk for that one. It was on the players and some dumb calls by the coordinators. A few guys make a couple plays and don't screw up....we win.

Take the points or throw to Fant one on one at the two and we probably win too. Don't touch a dead punt... That loss should be shared equally between coaches and players.

That's how I took your post. I haven't seen a single post blaming Kirk for being aggressive at the end of the half. I'm sure there probably was some here and there, but the overwhelming majority of people are happy we tried to score. Which we pretty much always try to do now by the way.

I'm not and I'm not targeting you with this, you're just the 50th person to say something similar so I'm replying. Teams have basically made it impossible for us to run the ball. What the rest of the offense is doing right now is saying "OK, fine, we'll take the passing game." Its like fans can't ever be happy. People complain that Kirk bashes his head against a concrete wall and Hayden used to scratch where it itches. That's what we're doing now and its still not "good enough" for some people.
I agree, it's better to take what the defense gives you. I am happy that the offense has changed from last year. Last year we would have tried to run the ball the whole game and would have lost. I would like to see where this takes us. If Stanley is allowed to throw on first down more it should send shockwaves around the Big. Throw to set up the run, Princess Bride "inconceivable!" Hawks just need to shore up the pass protection, like where this is going.

Kirk is head coach, poorly trained players, unprepared coaches.

This is his mark on the team, especially in the games that matter most. Eggs.

That's how it works. Not our first rodeo.

It's rather nice to see an Iowa team not have to play near perfect to win. They had a chance to beat Wisky even with all the mistakes.

The team has improved interior speed. It is still maddening to see the conservatism nursing a lead. It is hard to see RBs run headlong into a stacked D when you have some fantastic players to catch the ball. It's not even about the QB, it's his style. Why on earth Fant doesn't get more his way is shocking to many.

To me it's amazing that Iowa has the 3rd hardest schedule in the B1G. Look at Rutgers. A team that has Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State and they can't even get past Illinois.

And this is one of the easier schedules Iowa has had. There's no Michigan or Ohio State. Yes there's Penn State on the schedule and Maryland. Maryland is no pushover but it's at home.

Division 2 is not the right term and most every major P5 team in the country has played multiple teams that are not P5 at this point in the year. UNI is fcs and is having a pretty down season from their program standards. Northern Illinois is D1 and one of the MAC favorites. I was more or less just bustin' your balls.

Yeah, got that. I corrected the sack stat. The stat I had was correct. I just read it wrong. Iowa is at the top of the stats as for teams giving up stats. IE: the fewest.
