Odds Against Indiana

i was reminded of how IU boat raced Nebraska last year and then a week or two later played Washington. The Washington game was more competitive. UW had a freak turnover / pick six that caused the separation and propelled the rest of the game.

The defense has got to get things figured out. This will be a different dog coming into Kinnick Saturday. When was the last time we would have said the defense has to step up and hold there own compared to the offense?!! Lol.

following IU's loss at OSU last year, Cignetti sited "crowd noise" as one of the most significant problems they faced. He said they were not ready for that.
Yep -- so they'll no doubt be better prepared on Saturday. That said, their current starting QB transferred in from Cal, so he's never played a game before 70,000 screaming fans before. Our only hope is that he gets a little flustered and/or they make some penalties and get off-schedule offensively. Otherwise, it's just gonna be a looooooong game for Iowa's defense. And the quick footwork of the Hoosier DLine made Illinois' OLine look like they were in quicksand. Their entire team started a little slow this season, but man, the last 2 weeks they've played at an insane level.

This will be the first true test for the Hawks

The clowns are not necessarily a top ten team and we played rather well at their circus tent stadium

The game is winnable but I wouldn't bet a dollar on this one

The Hawks should be full of confidence after a tough one in the land of the Scarlet Knights

What scares me is our secondary. Our corners really got mauled by the physicality of Rutgers' receivers. Slant after slant. IF someone sees this, it could be for a long day for Iowa unless adjustments are made. As for Rutgers, I tip my hat to them. It was homecoming and they went after it.

I think we will see an improved opponent on both sides of the ball. So, I am definitely concerned. I think if we get into a track meet with Indiana, we are cooked. Iowa will need sustained drives by the offense to slow the game down, and some 3 and outs on defense.

I don't see us trading scores with Indiana like we did with Rutgers.
