It's a good filler statement...and by God, he BETTER have conscent! You don't mess around with the Dan McCarney "legion of lawyers"...trust me!

Woody,
Wink has a quicker release than May. May only shoots 3's when he is wide open. I believe Wink has only been blocked twice this year and I can't remember him getting blocked at all last year. I think Evan Turner just came out of nowhere to block his 3 last night.

Sorry, can't agree. Wink has to be left alone for his shot because he doesn't move to get open for his shot. Turner was able to close out and block that shot easily from Wink.

May can move to get open. If you would need a 3 pointer to tie, Wink would be easy to guard because you just stand within 5 feet of him. Plus, May could shoot over the defender if you needed a 3 to tie the game.

Agree to disagree. We must watch a different game. Just because he doesn't "move" to get open doesn't mean his release isn't quick. I've seen him make plenty of 3's with a guy in his face. If you are down 3 points and need a 3 at the end of the game and you don't have Wink on the floor, that would just be terrible. Not saying he would have to take the shot but you could use him as a decoy to get someone else wide open.

I was actually a bit surprised he wasn't on the floor longer in the second half last night. He was hitting his 3's yet even when we went on that scoring drought and needed a shot he was on the bench.

Wink has a very deliberate shot - it's not quick by any means. There's a little hitch in it before he releases.

Yes, Wink did get a trey or two blocked last year, as well.

May had 5 treys in the second half, I think. When he was rolling, no way I take him out for Devan. Esp considering we needed May's D.

That's OK that we disagree. I don't see him make 3's with much D in front of him.

I think he wasn't on the floor because of his defense. Since we were playing OSU, I am not sure who Wink can guard consistently. He was switched onto Turner at least once, and Turner just drove by him. He is a liability on defense when matched up against a quick player. I am not trying to bash him, but OSU is not a good team to match him up with.

Obviously I wouldn't have put him in for May the way he was playing but I think when he is hitting his 3's he should be out there for more than 9 minutes. When he is hitting he really opens things up for drivers, if you don't see that maybe you need to watch a bit closer. And his D was fine last night, who doesn't Turner blow right by besides May? The only time Wink was on him was if there was a switch.

He can get his shot off quick if he has to but obviously if you are wide open anyone is going to take just a little bit more time to get a shot off.

Devan Bawinkel is a defensive liability, period. Does anyone not watch him when he's in the game? Sure the kid can launch a 3 when he's wide open but beyond that he doesn't move without the ball and he has got to be the worst defensive player that Iowa has ever had in uniform.

I'm sure he is just doing what Lick tells him to do which is run the baseline and come off screens on certain plays to try to get open. Worst defender in the history of Iowa? Pretty strong statement. His D actually hasn't been that bad or hurt the team the last couple games. Yea if he is isolated at the top of the key he probly won't succeed but other than that he is fine.

What are you smoking? He's a damn good defender...holy crap.

My sarcasm meter must not be working tonight.

Every team, every player, every opportunity...they try and iso him or post him up. Do you think its coincidence? And watch the last few minutes when he was in the game and Turner just takes the ball from him on a rebound....sad, just sad. They don't get that offensive rebound, different story.

Haha...it's working just fine, you're just playing it safe in case I'm an idiot and really think Wink's a lock down guy!

You are pretty rediculous with your posts. I went and rewatched the last 12 or so minutes of the game (yes I dvr most of the games due to working late). The play you are talking about Wink did a good job of coming over and helping May. Wink cut off the baseline and Turner put up a one handed floater that missed. He then out jumped both May and Wink to get the offensive board. So what you are saying isn't true. Also that happened with about 10 minutes left and you are saying that if the Hawks get that rebound the game is a different story. Wow. They were up 7 when Wink came out of the game with 8 minutes left, he came in again for about a minute.

Also they never really isolated him on D. The only time he was on Turner was when there was a switch or he picked him up in transition.

So quit pickin on the kid, especially when you are wrong.
