True, but in the post-game press conference, Fran said he was telling the players to get to the basket and try to draw some fouls so they could get into the bonus, especially since MD was in the bonus so early in the second half. He wanted the Hawks shooting free throws down the stretch as they held on to the lead. Things maybe don't always work out the way they're planned (i.e., a lot of rejections without the fouls), but they're not just random acts by the players, either.

Good grief, Turgeon. Saying teams don't play zone in the ACC sounds lame. You know going in that Iowa is going to change defenses, play some man, some zone, mix in a little 3/4 court zone press.

Just watching body language Maryland seemed surprised that Iowa could play at all. That may not be reality but Maryland seemed surprised/unprepared that Marble can score off curls/screens or that Iowa would put up some physical resistance.

And I thought we kind of lost sight of him on shots, he had way too many easy put backs imo...How did these guys beat Duke?
 
"Iowa made Maryland look more like twerps than Terps"--actually, I'm not sure if I agree with the author on this. Maryland pretty much looked like turtles--slow, unathletic, and they shelled up against the zone.

Clever. From what I read before the game, I thought Maryland was supposed to be long, athletic, quick, and pretty strong offensively.
