NW is 119th vs Pass. Will we make any scheme adjustments to test them?

Not only that, they have 2 CB's already declared out for the game, and T Magic threw for 360 yards and 3 TD's against them. I've never seen a more obvious time in my life for where we should be chucking the ball around. The injuries on the O line will hurt, but you can bet NW will make adjustments and have 8 in the box and be blitzing non stop. When are we going to make someone pay for doing this? When are we going to make adjustments to win games instead of being so stubborn and simply thinking it's only about execution.

NW has a really bad passing attack just like we do, and they are really good at running it. Will we commit extra people to stop the run and bring pressure on passing downs? Or sit back and hope a few D line stunts will cure all?

This is a good question.

However, I am at a loss to think of a single time in Ferentz's 13+ years of coaching where we have seen an outright change in offensive or defensive gameplan to capitalize on the obvious weaknesses of our opponents. The only times I can recall an obvious change of gameplan is when he is forced to due to injuries. 2004 being a perfect example of this.

last year Iowa threw the ball over the top against IU and NU - both with success. So yes they did adapt the game plan

Throwing the ball over the top has always been a staple of KOK offenses. Not sure how that is any different than any other year.

Yes they did, to McNutt. Who is going to go over the top this year?

Irregardless, I remember when no one thought this Hawk could go over the top but I still believed:

Remember, it's already handicapped by the short passing scheme and JVB's array of issues. Unless Weisman is healthy, there is ZERO chance The Offensive could even set itself up to attempt over the top. Even when he was 100%, you can count on 2 hands the number of over-the-top attempts taken all season, let alone relying on them to be on target and have an opportunity for success.

I've seen this offense without Weisman:

18 points against NIU
6 points against ISU
7 points against PSU (7 came on a kickoff return, the 7 we got offensively were earned against the PSU JV)

With Weisman we're not exactly world beaters, as we've racked up larger point totals against inferior defenses, but at least the offense has had a pulse. Without Weisman, I have trouble seeing a win in this game.

GREAT QUESTION! Let me answer.

No.

Iowa's offense is terrible and ranked something like 108. The only adjustment possible that Iowa MAY be able to pull off is if JVB pulls his head out of his *** and throws a touchdown instead of an interception. If anyone thinks that this pathetic excuse for an offense can make an adjustment is in lala land.

LA LA LAND I TELL YOU!!!

I really can't see the Hawks scoring more than 14 points this game. Nothing up until this point in the season makes me think otherwise.

Major adjustment will be changing 3 yd pass routes to 5 yds. I'm more curious to see if the Hawks Defense can stop the NW Offense on a consistent basis. If Weisman is not 100% healthy it could be a long day for the Hawks.

You stretch out those passing routes and you will throw off the timing of the offense and it's right back to square one. No thanks.
