Now That The Vast Majority

The answer to Kirk Fetentz's buyout;

Kickstarter!

Somebody using Kickstarter raised over $50,000 to make potato salad (obviously a joke on their end, but people actual kicked in for it)
I think there may be a few disgruntled Hawk fans willing to pony up at this point.
A few more may join in as well, depending on how the season plays out of course.

Now we just need to find some way to convince the folks at Kickstarter that this is an art project, and we're good to go.

For his love of the program, I'm sure KF would negotiate down his buyout and do the right thing. It would probably include jobs for all his kids somewhere though.

If I'm Barta, I'd be having a friendly conversation with Bob Stoops and Bert B every now and then. Geez, what if this scenario were to happen? If Iowa were to lose to NW, Minn, Wisky, and Nebraska...I'm pretty sure the fan base comes unglued to the point of no return. Especially if Jake were to lose half his leg in a freak accident, but KF continued to play him over CJ out of loyalty.

We were bad on both sides of the ball yesterday. That doesn't bode well for many more wins.

You wait and see how the rest of the year plays out. Had this as a loss before the year, picked it as a loss this week, but the how they lost was concerning.

That said, all five games remaining are winnable...but Iowa is also capable of losing them all. IF they go 5-0 or 4-1, then this stuff is moot. If they go 7-5 or worse this year, that's a huge fail...8-4 is going to feel hollow, too, given the schedule...but I want to see it play out.

As for raising money for the buyout, just don't see anything like that happening this year.

I already know how the rest of the season will play out because I've been watching the same thing play out for the last 15 years. Sure it's possible we will go on a run of finishing on the right side of the scoreboard like we did in '09, but the games will all go the same as they always do.

Which Stoops is at KY? Is it Mike? He'd be the Stoops I'd want. I don't think Bob has enough in the tank to start over at Iowa. Could be wrong, but Mike is in his 1st HC gig and seems like a legit HC prospect with the energy he's brought to KY's football program.

Agree 100%.

Also about the buyout part.. Not sure it's a "can't" but more of a "won't". Iowa was in the Outback Bowl last year. They aren't going to turn around and fire KF 1 year later, barring scandal.

KF is doing just enough (barely) to keep the wolves at bay.

What gives you confidence that BF would be an effective OC? He has never had the duty of calling plays or designing offense. He has learned from his dad his whole life. The OL that was supposed to be the best in the conference has been slightly above terrible.

I agree that he would be better than Davis, but that bar isn't set low, it actually just fell to the ground.
Well, whoever got in KF's ear about going on every 4th and fewer than 5 . . . that's who should be the OC. That has been so out-of-KF-character. Even a couple of those have been crazy calls.

Somebody convinced him about 4th downs. Can't they convince him about game schemes/play calls, too?

That's Mark Stoops. Mike is back at OU as DC.

Mark is having what appears to be a decent 2nd year in the SEC at a non-football school.

Mike Stoops is at Oklahoma as the D coordinator. Mark is at Kentucky. Maybe Bob is getting to the point where he needs a change too? The expectations at Oklahoma are a lot bigger than here. I saw his last press conference...he certainly comes across very sincere...I was impressed as he was candid about the loss to Kansas State.

I know Mark is a great recruiter, but he is in a tough spot there at Kentucky...that's like raising the Titanic.

It would be great to have the guy that really should have gotten the job back in 1999. Bob Stoops wanted the job...had built NC type of defenses at Florida and worked under several great coaches. His resume was 200 times greater than KF at that point. We shouldn't have needed a search committee type of decision. Bowlsby really screwed the pooch on that. KF was a great choice after Stoops told us to pound sand and have fun in our search committee.

I would prefer we fire Barta and get a strong AD in place who will actually be Kirk's boss. Maybe if he knows he could be fired something will change. I'd sit him down and say win a big ten title next year or you're gone.
No AD is going to do that to any coach. If true, losing in the big ten championship would make you look double the chump.

I think what hawkinn3's point was to have an AD that actually has expectations that he communicates to KF and holds KF to those expectations. As opposed to, asking KF if he has everything he needs and can he get KF a cup of coffee.

Don't kid yourself. That was totally Ferentz...but not the way that you or I would see it. He's going for it more on 4th down out of fear that the field goal would fail. All his decisions are based on minimizing risk (or rather his PERCEPTION of minimizing risk) or fear of something not working.

and I'm only slightly kidding ...

Truth here. Good post. It is all about risk aversion. If he had a kicker, this 4th down stuff would not be happening. And, although I like going for it more, I figure it is going to cost us a game when we really need a field goal to win and our kicker poops his pants because he has not been out there near enough to kick the ball.

I’d probably chip in $1,000 contingent upon Barta going with him. Hey were about 1/10,000th of the way there already!

OMG........... LMAO!!!!!!!!!! Your kidding right??? Seriously your kidding right? LMAO!!!!!

Of y'all agree with me that Kurt sabotages his own program with face palm personnel decisions, I ask:

How much more of this insanity is required before Big Money figures out that Le Emperor is buck stark nekkid and force Sally and Gar Bear to pull the pin?

You're living a pipe dream expecting Barta or Mason to do this. Their concern is cash flowing in not wins and losses.

"Here comes Jake onto the field with crutches. He's under Center he limps back into the pocket, oh a hard hit. I think one of his crutches just got broke but he is up with one remaining crutch and back into the huddle."

Here's the deal, sparky... when you say "the vast majority of ya'll" you're actually talking about a handful
of anonymous goofballs on an internet forum. All tolled, you guys wouldn't make a decent line at the concession
stand during halftime at Kinnick on game day. I doubt the vast majority of all Hawk fans agree with you.

All "tolled," you're just dead wrong.

And you know it, and it makes you bitter.
