Notre Dame tantrum

The narcissism of ND is on full display.
Sounds like he is making excuses to jump to the BIG10 or SEC to me. Unfortunately I don't think the transition to either guarantees them anything.

If they were in either conference this year they lose 3 games minimum barring a schedule that didn't play any of the top teams.

Wow, that is a horrible look by ND. It is the conference's obligation to push for their own members to get into the CFP, that's a lot of money for the conference that Notre Dame does not share since they are not a football member. You want the ACC to help you then get into the conference as a football member.

Notre Dame should join up with the Beavers and Cougars and form their own little conference of disgruntled left behinds. Call it the Big Vagina Conference.

I think this is hilarious, tbh. It's the market force at work, finally showing everyone that the market is saturated. Bring back 12 bowl games + CFP, not 41. Then you have to earn your way there instead of losing 58% of your games and still getting in. I'm sorry but it isn't for student staff, it isn't owed to fans for vacations to Nashville. The fans are making it about that. Go take a vacation if you want to take a vacation. Allow all teams to set up their own exhibition games at the end of the year if they want and let them find matchups, venues, etc. It'd be fun. It'd be interesting because it wouldn't be some archaic, overblown charade that people think still means something. It would be teams that wanted to play each other and could be way more fun than watching 5-7 South Roberts County Buckaroos play the New Hampshire Tech Jalapeno Poppers in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Let every team have extra practices. You didn't do something special at 5-7 to "earn" extra post season practices. Your team was quite literally below average.

Bring on the flames.

This is what I want (bolded), but I want them to move it to the spring. For teams with new coaches and players (early enrollees and transfers), give the fans an opportunity to see what is coming down the pike. Trying to line it up with Spring Break feels a little too early...maybe late April or early May. Instead of these historic bowl sites (with corresponding decrepit stadiums), seek out NFL stadiums that will maximize the fan experience, and perhaps a few international destinations.

Vandy tried this with Miami I believe but it is in the NCAA bylaws or something where the game can't be held on the continental US so I thought they briefly explored going to Hawaii. I can't remember the interview I heard and they discussed this but ultimately as the usual the NCAA makes things difficult to do and the logistics involved complicated the matter making it not doable.

This ND thing is just one small part of my master plan to do away with the participation trophies that are college football. It’s working.

I’ve made it my life goal to live long enough to see it destroyed along with fouling at the end of basketball games.

Little do you proles know that I timed it this way to cause distraction and chaos while I start to implement “Operation ’And The Ball Back’ ”

The fog of war is real and you’re all falling for it. I’m over here playing blitz chess while you’re playing Go Fish.

Its so cute when you think you can get rid of something that crusty old white millionaires and billionaires sit on boards for as there own personal vanity projects. You ever met a bowl committee board member? They don't fly commercial. Oh, and there is also the little matter of ESPN and Fox and all the streaming services that pay a lot of money to broadcast these real games, with real stakes, and real competition. Oh, and let's also go ahead and shit on the players that are not first round draft picks, who love to play the game of football, and who might want to showcase their talents one more time, all while going to a (usually) warmer place, being fed and housed for treat, and basically treated like a rock star at the age of 20. Finally, let's shit on the fans who are not tired old haters, who enjoy watching their team play football. Let's definitely shit on the fans.

For F's sake, Fry, if you don't like bowls, then there is this thing called a remote control. Change the channel, you grumpy old turd.

You're definitely the grumpier one.

Just older. I love football. I want more of it, not less. I think there should be a two game Spring season. I think every team should get matched up on championship weekend with someone in their conference so everyone gets a 13th game.

In all seriousness, I am proud of the fact that Iowa doesn't have any opt outs so far. They are taking this game seriously. They want to win it for their coach and their fans. Whether it has meaning to you or not, it means something to those kids with the pads on. Go Hawks!!!

It's the ND way.
In an incredible display of hypocrisy, they want the ACC to support and promote their FB program, despite the fact that ND has spurned membership (and with it, support from) the ACC football conference.
Arrogant as always.

Don't forget the band, dance, and cheer squads!!!!

Sorry, as a former HMB parent I'm obligated to defend them.

Great point! Most folks love themselves a good bowl game. Whether you take an impromptu family vacay, or tune in around the holiday season with friends and family to watch a little Hawk football, its a good time. am struggling with the bowl hate. Heard some Husker radio guys express similar opinions to Fry last night going home. If you miss the good old days, and think that bowls are too watered down and don't have any meaning for you, than for God's sake don't tune it! No one is forcing you to watch. Even in prison!! But, how does the existence of this bowl game, wherein a couple thousand players, cheerfolk, band, and fans get to have fun playing and watching a kids game for one more time this year, impact you? What is the harm that needs to be stamped out by eliminating a bowl game?

Don't get it.

Go Hawks!!!

I'm going to hate watch every single bowl game this year and start game threads of snark.

My employer shuts down the two weeks of Christmas and New Years so I have time. I'll even wear my best Hawaiian shirt and fake Ray Bans while I'm doing it.

Here's the end-all:

8 team playoff...

--Top 2 finishers in each P4

--First round is 1/2 in each conference and serves as the CCG thus killing 2 birds with one stone and not adding an additional game. No legitimate complaints because all 135 teams have a clear cut, non-ambiguous path to the playoffs. You want in, finish at least 2nd in your conference. The NFL, NBA, and MLB all have defined playoff rules, these guys are pro athletes now so no whining. No committees deciding Alabama is better than ND or vice versa.

--Keep 12 bowl games as the "official" bowls and these are not part of the CFP. That way it will still mean you're a damn good team to make one. Sorry Pop Tart fans.

--Allow each FBS team not in the playoffs to play in one game after the season. Do whatever you want as far as scheduling/location/etc. Practice as long as you want. But they're not an official Bowl Game. That keeps the vacation/band parents/spirit squad folks 100% happy.

Now...that should be enough to appease everyone, but I think what really grinds the gears of people who like 41 bowl games, is my suggestion that they not be called bowls. Is that really the hang-up? We want to say we made a bowl after a 6-6 or 5-7 season? Because that's a participation trophy the way it is now to play in the "Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl."

Beavers....Cougars...I see what you did there.
