Notre Dame manager dies

Dolph said on Hawk Talk tonight that the Hawks moved into Kinnick today because they didn't want to put people up in the cherry-picker.

that's the smart thing to do. especially with the press box the way it is...it probably blocked most of the wind today.

I wandered over to ND's fan forum...this was in the thread...

Disturbing last two facebook status updates from Declan Sullivan:

"Gusts of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work... I guess I've lived long enough :-/"

"Holy **** holy **** this is terrifying"
^I don't know the validity of that, but I have a hard time believing someone made it up...
That's so horrible, I can't even imagine how Kelly will face the family...

Like I can't get over this...horrible tragedy that could have been easily prevented....

This is on Kelly. It isn't just a tragic case of an unfortunate football injury. It was a case of the head coach not making sure conditions were safe for his student employee. Putting a kid up on a scissor lift in 51 mph winds is not only unwise, it is downright negligent.

Yikes, that is crazy. Really how good of a practice can you even have in 50mph winds?

I smell lawsuit. Kelly should do what is right and donate his salary to the family for the remainder of the season. That is downright sick and Kelly should be FIRED!!!

I was going to post something very similar. I hope the family of the deceased sues Notre Dame up one side and down the other...very sad.

I do this job at UNI and we normally practice outside, but we went inside today. Even had to cut practice a little short because of high school playoffs. This is all Kelly's decision. I'm seriously amazed he thought they could practice outside. Can't imagine what that kid was going through. Completely avoidable.

Wow! How sad and tragic! And for what? Film of a PRACTICE?? Notre Dame and Brian Kelly both need, not just should, to be sued. An example must be made of such negligence and blatant stupidity.

Wow, very sad. What the hell was he doing up there?!

'"In fact, HSS Hire specifically states that the lift should never be used in wind speeds greater than 25 mph."

From the southbend newspaper - Huge lawsuit comming

prayers and condolances to the family

Not only are the facebook post rumors apparently legit, the team also kept practicing for 20-30 min after it happened? That makes me sick.

Oh. My. God.

Not to be too crass but from a professional perspective the lawyer for this kid's family is gonna have one hell of a payday coming, because that family is going to collect from ND...and how.

If I were that kid's father I'd want more than money though. I'd want Fat Kelly's head on a silver platter.
