Nothing wrong with Marble. Saywut?

Just his play. The steady regression says to me that whatever the injury is, playing on it is making it worse.

Marble is playing a new position this year. He isn't the greatest shooter, and its probably pretty hard for him to adjust not having the ball in his hands all the time. He is pretty crafty when he has the ball in his hands and can draw a lot of fouls. Marble just isn't one of the conferences superstar. He is a good player.

Since sitting out the MSU game, Devyn Marble is 15/50 from the field (30%). In the last 4 games, he is 7/34 (20.6%).

It's not that new of a position. He's a junior. He knows the offense. He's played the 1, 2, and 3 at Iowa.

He doesn't go from scoring 27 and 30 in the non-conf to averaging just over 8 pts in conf because he's playing a new position. No, that's not it.

The bottom line is something is up with Marble. Is it the injury, is it his confidence, a mixture of both? I don't know.
But he's not right at the moment.

Marble is hurt. Period. I'm really not sure why he is playing right now. Let him rest, and get him healthy for the Big Ten tournament and hopefully some type of post-season tournament.

I truly do not understand why Coach Fran is playing him right now. He can't cut hard on the foot. If Marble can't cut, he can't play.

Dude, when Fran and Devyn are asked point blank if he is hurt and both look at you and say he is not, then I don't know what else to tell you.

I don't think he's 100%, I'm just relaying the information I have obtained. Both are adamant that he is fine.

I do believe he's hurt. Maybe Devyn is lying and saying he can play through whatever it is, I don't know. That wouldn't surprise me, and that would explain Fran's demeanor on the subject, too. If Dev says he can play, Fran will still hold him to the same standard as he always does. He was falling woefully short of that standard on Sunday, and has been for awhile now. But I fully expect any competitor to lie when they're hurt; hell, I tried to play football on a broken ankle once. Most athletes are like that, especially as you move up the ladder.

But he's a long ways from 100% when he has to use other guys as a crutch to sit down.

I'm with you on it.
I just don't understand the need to keep it a secret if he is hurt. You can see him hobble. He's not playing well. Why not just admit it? I guess I don't understand if he is hurt why they wouldn't come out and say it. Competitive advantage? I don't know.

Whatever the case, as we mentioned on Sunday, the guy's not right. He's off.

I don't get it either. I mean, if he were just a little hurt, that's typically worth concealing for competitive advantage. But ain't nobody gonna be keying on Devyn at this point. They don't have to.

It's tough when you have volume shooters like Marble and Oglesby struggling at the same time. Marble needed help getting up to, and down from, the elevated floor Sunday, so clearly his toe is bothering him. I recognize McCaffrey put him in as a decoy to draw a double, so his toe didn't cause him to air mail a pass into the stands while White was wide open in the corner. Marble is injured and pressing, which isn't a good combination. Hopefully Oglesby and McCabe can knock down some 3's tomorrow night, as we need some production from behind the arc.

If he's not hurt, then he has regressed more in 2 months than any player i have EVER seen! Maybe he is drinking what Vandenberg was drinking!
