Not a smart team, not a tough team... it was all an illusion.

I never said they didn't play hard. Or that they didn't try.

They just don't play tough or smart when it matters- for the past 2 years.

It is what it is.

It's the business of the game - tis not personal.

Saying a team doesn't play tough or smart is an indictment on the coach...it is the coaching staff's job to get players ready for in game situations. This team got into a lot of situations they weren't ready for because if the coaching. I think it has to do with how they were prepped, how they were handled within games (both timeouts and rotations and handling of players mistakes during games).

If you look at this teams performance over the year, we won by running, defense, and garbage points. Think about how many games we won the game because we had players that were on a shooting streak....Jok last night, Marble 8-10 games, Olelsby 1-2 games, Woody 2 games, Olaseni 1-2 games, Gesell 1 game? Uthoff 1-2 games...that's about it. We lack pure shooters (who stroke it most every game) to take the program to the next level. We score a lot of fast break and hustle points.

The Future: Woody and Olaseni will improve. Jok should be our best shooter, Ogelsby and Uthoff will be decent, Gesell will be streaky. Hopefully Ellingson or Uhl can be consistent shooting...and can play defense. Dickerson may give us a little more pizzaz at the point.

1/2 court offense: this year, it seems that it was run through the top of the key to get Marble open. I would hope that next year we pound it into Woody and Olaseni and kick back out to our shooters. Hopefully Dickerson can drive to the basket and drop off to White, Woody, and Olaseni.

Hey BigTenAHole,

The team couldn't get it done...but to say they didn't give effort tonight is completely wrong. They played one of the better defensive teams in the country over the last month of the season and I didn't see them backing down...they fought hard, but came up short. An illusion means they didn't beat any good teams, or beat teams on the road...so your illusion comment is out the window. Fine, we need a few more athletes...I'll give you that...but to call out guys as stupid and weak is most likely a reflection on your butt hurt self. It must hurt to look in the mirror and see what you describe...a small-minded little man with a tiny pennis.

Love internet tough guys... evidently this is the way you are supposed to post.

Good work.

Marble is one of the most overrated 1st team All-Big 10 players I've ever seen. Didn't do anything tonight and where is he at the end of games when we need him. Zilch ~!

Um you do remember he hit the pull up to put the game in OT, but OK you're right he was no where to be found. I get that he had a rough shooting night, but don't forget that he also hit the biggest shot of the night for Iowa.

I will give him 2 things...he hit 1 big shot and played very good defense on McRae for the last shot of regulation...but where is the other 35 min of the game that he played. He played poorly and was matched up with a similar player in McRae and McRae showed which has more nba potential.
