To all of you ragging on JO, look back one year ago at the comments made about Eric May. For some of you he didn't deserve a scholarship or worse.

These are my frustrations with JO.
1) He can not create his own shot. So teams play him dribble used all the time. Force him to put the ball on the floor and he can't.
2) He struggles coming off screens to get 3's off. IA runs him off those baseline screens and he struggles to get that shot off. Great shooters can come off those screens and square their shoulders up in the air. He can not. He has to get his feet under him to get those shots off. Gesell is much better at this and Gatens was a stud his senior year. SO hopefully JO can progress as well.
3) he needs to have a lot of room to get a shot off.
4) I dont think he has a scorer's mentality. when your #1 role on the team is get 3's up, you need to have that gunner mentality. I cant even begin to count how many times i yelled "shoot that" to the tv screen

Disagree with 1-3; 1. he doesn't use the dribble to score, he finds open guys just remember his pass to Olaseni for the dunk. 2. He hit one huge shot off a screen against IL, but overall he struggled to shoot period this year, so all shots except when he was set. 3. The second shot against IL, he had a guy in his face, it isn't that he needs a lot of room, those just seem to be the only ones he hit.
With #4 there, I think you are right, his shot selection was awful, therefore the less than stellar %.
Disagree with this being the reason for his low percentage. He had plenty of great looks that he missed, he's just not a very good shooter. Two full years worth of B10 games and both years he's shot well under 30%. He's the type of kid we need to recruit over to improve next year.

3. He needs so much space because he is slow getting through his catch and release, his shot just takes way too long to be a good effective shot. The coaching staff will probably be working with him about this in the off season, they did do wonders with Gatens in his final season.
