NOT a complaint.. just observation

I think we can all agree our first drive was exciting, it was what we all wanted.. up-tempo, moving the ball, mixed in with coker and of course, VB beasting..

But my question is... why did we stop? Im not a college football coach, Im not an expert by any means, but our offense is EXPLOSIVE and clicks best while in no huddle mode.. now were back to our YAWNffense, and its lookin ugly... again.

Whats the point of doing it if youre not committed to its success throughout the rest of the season?

Our D isnt going to stop teams like Nebraska, Michigan or NW with their mobile QBs (another RB fumble as Im typing.. ugh) So our offense is going to HAVE to score more points.

First couple drives VB 7-8, 90 yds.. since 1-6...

And since this site seems to have some ultra-delusional fans, instead of insulting, how about if you dont agree, you post where I am wrong, or even better, give YOUR BETTER recommendation.

The one reason I could see it that we don't want to become to one dimensional in that we always have to rely on the pass to win. We still want to show some running looks. We are still going to need to have some semblance of a running game to win games. However, I would agree we should throw more than run the ball ball as the receivers are the strength of the offense.

No doubt we should run the ball, but I wouldnt be surprised if our RBs lead the nation in fumbles (no stats to back that up, just wouldnt be surprised).. but we can still run out of a no huddle, or even more fast paced offensive set.

Well, if we aren't going to stop those teams then why not slow the game down and keep it from them (by the way, Michigan was held in check against Notre Dame until Robinson through the ball up for grabs and ND forgot to stop them so they aren't that explosive and NW is a bad example too). I like throwing the no huddle out there to throw off the defense and if we get into a rhythm with it then keep going but it's not Iowa's offense and I'd have concerns about implementing something full time in the middle of a season that we don't use.

I'm also concerned about conditioning, I mean we have showed problems in the past with the defense getting tired due to an opponents no huddle offense, speeding up our offenses tempo would only accelerate that and play into the opponents hands.

this is where we need to concentrate on recruiting. We need to utilize this chance to score more points. Running up the score is GOOD. Big numbers grab more attention than 34-10

No doubt Iowa's rbs are not very good.....they will be the change of pace looks and something still for opposing defenses to think about.

We could be up 50-0 against Wisconsin in the BigTen Champ game and someone would still be complaining.

Ok, to reply to this. What are we gonna slow down? Our running game is probably the least dependable its been in 10-15 years right now. Do you prefer eating up 2 minutes at a time with 3 and outs? Not to mention the slippery ball they seem to be carrying this year?

As far as conditioning, when the defense sees no huddle fast paced offense in practice, it will lead to their being better conditioned come game time. Not to mention it will help us figure out just how to stop it, on a more consistent basis.

The ONLY thing that is going to make our run game relevant this year is an effective passing game, and I dont know if YOU noticed, but I sure do, we have the weapons to make that happen!

Coker looks like an average back....not great....not terrible.....he looks like he is lacking that 2nd gear when he gets out in the open. I don't know if it is an injury or what.

VB 15-25 200 at the half. 25 attempts in the first half. Just wondering what game you are watching???

This is what I meant when I mentioned delusional fans. No, Im NOT complaining, hence the "NOT a complaint..." part in the title. Im happy with the way the game is going, maybe you missed the point where I said "Im pleasantly surprised we went for the juggular"? Well, you probably didnt miss it, just ignored it because it didnt blend well with your ignorant reply.

running up the score is a d!k head move. never ever run up a score when you don't need to. I would say I like the mix. you can run out of a no huddle but it doesn't slow the game down when you need to slow it down. again we are a pro style offense, that's why we get the recruits we do. but again I like the mix up of no huddle and basic pro style. gives us more options later in the season. winning by 24 will still bring in recruits.

Same one you are, Im wondering what post youre reading, because the point has clearly delved twelve demensions past you.

7-8 while running an up tempo style offense (in other words, really really well)

8-17 since.. Are you able to see the difference in those numbers? Theyre still really good, Im not denying that, Im saying he has the ability to do better numbers, and the weapons (WRs) that allow him to do that.

Not rocket science or brain surgery... quit making it out to be

I thought we weren't insulting. Was just my Observation of your first post. Guess i didn't fully understand it. Way over my head.

I couldnt disagree more. If you dont wanna lose by A LOT, then dont schedule that caliber of a team. You see elite programs dropping 60-70 points on teams like this. And they get the 5 star recruits. If you want to keep running an obsolete offense (for college football) and losing 2-3 games on seasons we should lose maybe ONE.. thats your right, you can hope for that all you want. I want my favorite team to win a national title someday though, and that takes updating the philosophy to a beat everyone in every way possible, including beating people by 50+ points.

Dont be such a bleeding heart liberal, the players will get over it.
