North Dakota: Thugs R Us

Bottom line...glad Fran walked off...Don't want Cook's finger re-broken. ND punks aren't worth it.

JB not putting up with the hood move is also on my "like" list. Snark.

Yep, even if you disagree with what he did, gotta like the fire of the kids. Love the way I think Pemsl said that Jok was telling all of them, this is exactly what is going to happen in the B1G, everyone is gonna try to thug you up.

Didn't John Wooden say something like sports don't teach character it reveals it.... Something like that anyway. I just think if Fran would have went and talked to his coach in the hand shake line about it all would have been good. We've all seen chippy games without it blowing up in the handshake line after. Nobody got hurt in this one just move on. I think Fran was more upset that it was a game late and he had to have his starters in the last few mins. If Iowa would have made half the free throws they missed and didn't turn it over so much they'd have won by 20 going away...

Don't think my reply is colored by the school I played for, but I thought this was Fran having a temper tantrum, taking his ball and going home. Sure things were rough, and they stole the ball with three seconds left in a game that was over. Show some class and go through the motions of congratulating the team you just beat.

Fine, but no comments on how your "Fighting Sioux" conducted themselves or their head coach lip syncing F bombs directed toward Iowa players? Showing some class should work both ways. They were a guest in "our house" and behaved more like Cyclones than "Fighting Sioux".

That wasn't what happened at all. Our players were ready to kick their ass. Fran avoided a confrontation. It isn't about manhood, it is about an intelligent coach wanting to get off the floor and get ready for the Big Ten season.

Jones, their coach, was blowing a gasket about Bohannon

So your saying that poor officiating gave our million dollar coach the right to act classless and walk off his home court..

Hey Chosen did you see what Bohannon did after the game?? Fran could learn something from those actions!!!

North Dakota gave us exactly what we needed before Big Ten play. While Fran shouldn't have walked off the court I didn't care for the way Brian Jones was acting either. But everything on the court was good experience for the players.

Jones is an Alford deciple. I have no love for him.

I love Fran and his loyalty to his kids but he has to lead by example. You can't preach about not getting caught up in heat of the moment when he did exactly that. Glad he apologized this morning but he could have saved himself a lot of grief by taking the high road and shaking hands.

You guys think he pulled jok, not bc he was hurt, but in order to prevent an injury? Was it that tough of a game? I was playing Scrabble with my kids, so I think I missed some stuff. Were the refs just missing a bunch of stuff then?

Watching Jok sitting on the bench, I'd say he got bagged by the ND player. Seemed that way when I watched it later too.

Agreed...

I see many comments on here that sound like whinny little kids reacting like someone stole your Basketball and ran home with it. Oooo they played sooooo physical, it hurt my feelings whaaa..my goodness MAN UP!!

What Fran did last night after the game was Classless!

They bagged Jok more than once. JBo was being grabbed and was called for a foul by a cheap flop. Baer was bagged at least once. As a coach, you simply don't teach kids to do this. If Jok had to face this each game, he'll lose the ability to have kids (yeah, I know, maybe an exaggeration). The cheap play went right down to the final seconds when Baer was doing nothing more than running out the last 3 or so seconds and was raked for a meaningless steal. How many other players were victims of cheap shots and hit the deck because of them? These three are the first ones that come to mind.

I'm not against physical play; I played a physical game back in the day. But I am completely against cheap shots.

I can't believe there are people that think Fran did the right thing here. Mind blowing

I don't feel Fran did the right thing, he doesn't either - personally I love it - f doing the "right" thing in all situations specifically situations you think are bogus. You show me a coach who is good that always does the "right" thing in every situation. Please - give me some examples. He's human, he's passionate, he's the man.

It is odd for a player to try to aggressively taken a ball out of an opponent's hands with 3 seconds left, to try to score in a 15 point game...and then have the coach try to get the basket to count...more weird than anything else.

Fran should have shook hands and laughed...and walked away.

It's odd and classless and stupid. All he's doing at that time is padding his statistics as what he does is meaningless to the outcome of the game.

It's just about as classless and stupid as when RickyD was playing in the NBA and took an extra shot at the opponent's basket and rebounded it so the could attain a triple-double.

It's a fine line between being passionate and being a hot headed cry baby. Last night Fran was on the wrong side of that line. He set a terrible example for his young team.

Yeah aint he great? I bet his players see it much differently. Again, show me 1 successful coach who has done every thing right in every situation. I'm waiting for a list of guys
