WTF? The last guy who picked us to score 13 points, at home, against one of the most porous run defenses in all of college football last year? Good lord, the pickings must be slim after they let so many people go! We may not win, but I can say with almost 100% certainty that we will score more than 13 points!

And this is exactly why games are played on the field and not on paper. I did find it interesting however that they focused on the fact our top 3 DBs from last year are not going to be on the field, however ignored the fact that Allen lost essentially his entire supporting cast. In my opinion it seems like a wash.

Did somebody tell them that Iowa is going to run the ball, run the ball more and have a huge advantage with time of possession and probably field position. Mr Josh Allen might be only getting 5-7 minutes a quarter to work his masterpiece.

Even Iowa media types are predicting a close win. It's almost like these guys haven't looked at what Wyoming lost from last season's team.

Que the Cowherd and Dodd predictions....

Every Sport Person's Nightmare are a bunch of hacks like Wyomings run defense.....

I don't have Wyomings stats from last yr in front of me but their defense was bad... And against the run it was pitiful... It really seems like a mismatch when you take a deeper look. Take into account that they did bad on the road last yr. Nebraska killed them and Allen threw 5 ints against them. And that was with a better more experienced group of skill guys then he'll have this year... I think our offense should be able to pound them and get at least a couple of big plays off of play action to burn them on. And our defense should be able to make Allen really uncomfortable back there. If he's not able to set and throw as often as he'd like (he is good on the move too) he won't be nearly as effective.

People trying to equate NDSU last year to Wyoming this year just don't know football. That NDSU team was extremely physical on defense, had a B1G caliber Oline, and had a championship mentality from the consecutive championships they had won....not to mention a history of beating quality P5 teams.

Wyoming, on the other hand, is not physical (gave up around 6ypc against the run), has a nearly brand new Oline, doesn't have a history of beating quality P5 teams, and hasn't won a title of any kind in, like, forever. What they have going for them is a 1st round draft pick at QB minus an 1,800yd rusher, essentially all of his receivers, and the majority of his Oline.

This game has 45-10 written all over it with Allen throwing a couple of picks in the 4th quarter trying to make plays.

The areas where their D was strong last year, forcing turnovers and defensive TDs, tend to be pretty fluky (particularly 12 recovered fumbles), or at least highly variable from year to year. Basically last year if their D wasn't turning the opponent over (10th most TOs gained in FBS), they were getting railroaded right down the field. I think I also remember reading they gave up a bunch of big plays.

They are the underdog, and they will be ultra-aggressive, implementing a David Strategy. If Iowa can minimize mistakes in the face of that aggression, while not completely turtling and being willing to take counter-punches, I think they should win handily. We'll see...

I'm Black and Gold through and through and I would love the Hawks to be shown a little more relevance too but when we have the NDST fiasco and our bowl appearances of lately.......What do you expect. I also don't give much thought to any thing Walt Disney's secespn has to say anymore as the are getting to be as irrelevant in the sports world with all of their PC and biased reporting. I say just go and handle business this year with a more daunting schedule and then we'll see.

Wyoming gave up like 34 ppg last year. So congrats on returning 8 players on defense!

Here's the question, would any of those returning eight players even start on any B1G conference team? Probably not.

We have a little more passion on the coaching side, especially with Polasek and I don't think they will let the Hawks come out flat on Saturday. We just have to put an early hurtin' on Allen and everything will fall into place for us.

I agree with you assessment on NDST being physical but being there in person last year I'll go to my grave with this impression that the Hawks o-line looked as if they were HUNGOVER from the night before. Others in my section thought the same thing.

They looked hungover because our starting center (J Daniels) and best olineman (Welsh) were out for that game. No excuse to only generate 30 yds rushing, but the oline looking like shit because we had to play LeGrand and Render instead of Daniels and Welsh isn't completely far-fetched....
