So I knew Fant would draw NFL interest with his combination of size, speed and hands, but these mock drafts were very surprising. Maybe this isn't surprising to some of you, but I wasn't expecting the consensus to be first round pick.

(Insider article - McShay has him at #12)

Not me, I'd flip out and say, this gold fish is coming with me.
Then he would have to teach me about how to not shop lift the pootie.
Help me help you.
IDK it might be kind of fun. Lol

His measureables in camp were better than all TEs in this year’s combine, and he put on 10 lbs without supposedly losing any speed.

He gone.

Which is ok. The more kids that kick ass here and make bank from early round draft picks, the more will come here.

The top 2 right ends in this years draft were Hayden Hurst(#25) and Mike gesicki (#42). Fants sophomore season was better than both of those players.

Hopefully BF figures out a lot of ways to get him the ball this fall.

Shhh! Don't tell Caddy that Fant is a consensus first round pick. You may spoil his rants that we have no playmakers. Then again he will recognize Noah as a playmaker-as soon as he's gone. Then he can go back to saying we have none. He just did the same with Akrum Wadley.

Id like to see more consistency out of Fant this year. His talent and production make him a first round pick this year. Id love to see him dominate and id love to see game planning that does just that. Stanley is good enough to get him the ball, Fant needs to be slightly more focused with the drops. First rounder and gone next year. Would love to see a dominating 1000 yard final season.

Game planning? Does that happen?

I just want to point out that neither Akrum Wadley nor Alan Lazard signed with my agency, and each was not drafted. Coincidence?

If Noah takes a nice forward step in his blocking and does nothing extra on the offense this year vs last year, except stop with those annoying drops he has once-in-awhile, he will be a first round pick.

He certainly has the athletic ability to be a very good blocker.

The drops were just as big. I am not going to be that guy, the “hater” . So I am just going to assume his hands will become more consistent, especially at money time .

Kiper has him #17 on his Big Board:

17. Noah Fant, TE, Iowa*
A move tight end, Fant has the big catch radius teams covet, with a 6-foot-5 frame, and he can run. You never expect a ton of targets in Iowa's offense, but I'd expect Fant to get a bump from his 30 catches in 2017 with improving QB play in Iowa City.

Not sure I agree with Kipers prediction that Fant's numbers will go up in 2018. If I'm an opposing defensive coordinator, I would do whatever i had to to take Fant away and force someone else to beat me.

Improved QB play is an assumption. Hope he's right.

But, w/ no AW is Fant the only playmaker? Until somebody else steps up you'd expect defenses to focus on him a little more.

If that happens, Hockenson will have 10 touchdowns this year. We have two known play making TEs this year and a lot of talent/potential behind them. If Smith-Marsette and Smith get going on the outside, we could have 4 receiving options on the field that require double coverage out of running formations. I bet B Ferentz is having a lot of fun with the playbook this offseason.
