Noah Fant picks the Hawkeyes on Omaha radio

so why did the kid commit now if he will jump at the next best offer?

because that is the game, as it is played, right now. don't want to lose a spot at iowa, but don't want to give up on the 'two in the bush'...i think iowa is in a good spot here. the likelihood of oregon and nd finding kids as good or better than this kid (if those two offers would cause him to jump) are good. they both are schools that are recruiting strongly.

early signing period would fit nicely in situations like this.

at least now, it's another guy - among our other verbals that we know that we have to recruit -

Also, Iowa is in close proximity to his home. Maybe he has no interest going to Oregon or somewhere far.

It's been a long time since we beat the likes of ASU and UCLA for a recruit. Whether he sticks to his commit or not, I'll take this little victory as a boost to this class that desperately needed talent over projects. At 6'5, 210 as a high school jr, the guy reminds me of a Scott Chandler type.

This kinda reminds me of that kid Ozigbo who committed to Iowa state last year. As soon as he gets a "better" offer he will flip

he had better, if you are talking brand names and college football. and the kid must have the academic pedigree to go with it - offers from Cal, Vanderbilt........Nebraska, UCLA, ASU are also offers he had - if you use your logic and he just picked 'the best offer', then that is saying something about iowa.....

His academic interests are reportedly in pre-med which certainly didn't harm the Hawk side of the ledger.

yeah I get that but apparently the word commitment means nothing anymore

The word is "committed" because that was the word 40 years ago. It is a legacy term from another time when the rules and ways of doing things were different. Someone should just change the term to something else.

I'm glad we have him on board right now, but its a long way to NSD. let's just hope that Kurt and his staff stay on him and keep recruiting him hard.

After listening to the radio deal it sure sounded to me that he's taking Iowas offers cause they check off pretty much everything he'd like. Med program, close to home, TEs are used a lot and developed to go to the next level. The only couple things Iowa doesn't have a lot of other offers places may is weather and recent winning. That's about it. So if he were to change his mind it won't be to go to Neb. I think he took our offer now timing wise cause he knows he's the 23rd commit of ours now. If he waited it may not be there long. So it's definatly the bird in the bush scenario playing out. It was mentioned he had like a cousin or family member close to him that's a huge Hawkeye fan so having that in his ear going forward won't hurt. I sure don't know how it'll play out but in the mean time I'm pretty stoked he went on a sports radio station in Omaha and poked all the Nebby fans right in their grill. Even though the realistic Nebby fans should have known they weren't even 2nd on his list. Maybe not even 3rd.
