Spurns the Huskers on an all Nebraska radio station - Awesome.

Had offers from UCLA & Nebraska to name a few.

and Husker fans (and the hosts, one being a former Husker player Damon Benning) are losing their minds. Great way to start a Friday for the Hawks

We'll look at his rationale. It is transient. 'showed the most interest'. He didn't say that he Liked iowa the best and he didn't say that he liked the system or the staff. This one can change because the circumstances can change.

'liked the way they pump out TEs to the NFL, and that's one of my dreams'.....

I don't get this attitude. Nebraska, UCLA are both places he has visited, and have both been recruiting him for awhile (same as Iowa). Why would he publicly spurn his home state months ahead of signing day if he didn't want to be a Hawk?

Of course the staff keeps recruiting every verbal commitment, we could lose any or all of them. This is exactly how the recruiting game works these days, no reason to not be excited that he has so far selected Iowa over his home state Nebraska and also UCLA.

Nebraska isn't even close to a TE factory. Choosing Iowa tells us that's what he wants to play instead of DE anyway. He's listed at 205 now... So unless he maybe splits outside like Chandler did at first for Iowa I don't think he'll play for 2 or 3 years. (which is about normal) It'll be awhile till he can be an inline blocker at that size obviously.

if you haven't already - listen to the podcast of his announcement. JD has it linked on his front page story.

I live in Omaha. Word on the street is Nebraska backed off his recruitment awhile ago after they took a TE commit out of Colorado over Texas. Iowa has been showing the most interest and Fant really liked that. Don't know if the commitment holds. Sounds like the Huskers might not have a spot for him on offense. Wanted him as DE.

I don't know man. Wearing the Hawk gear during his announcement seems like he burned his bridge on going back to Nebby. It was almost like flashing the middle digit at them.

he didn't even discuss nebraska - outside of him being directly asked. he said if he gets a different offer after the season, he'd consider. he wants to be an NFL tightend *dream*. Iowa has proven time and again that they can produce that. he also wants to be an orthopedic surgeon - i understand that you can go anywhere to school and then go somewhere else for medical school after undergrad - but having a training hospital/medical school at the school you wish to attend as an undergrad is more appealing that going to school that doesn't have that at all on their campus....no??

"Now, take that Nebbie.........."

Also hearing that if Notre Dame offers it is pretty much an automatic commitment for him....ND was showing interest recently but never offered. If that offer comes....I'm worried. But right now, happy we got the kid. TONS of underrated talent in Omaha. Impressive get for the coaching staff

Also heard that an Oregon offer would cause him to jump.

Still, this is good news. Hopefully it sticks till February.
