No Surprise, Stanzi as 3rd string again.

A lot of people refer to it as "intangibles". Stanzi definitely had those.

You're right about that. Intangibles has also become an analyst and media favorite choice word these last few years. Stanzi had that killer instinct and that ability to forget about that pick 6 he just threw to bring his team back to win. - "Intangibles"

I honestly thought Ricky was going to have success in the NFL. Not as a starter right away, but probably as a back-up for a few years and then get a shot. If he can't beat out Brady Quinn, I will just have to accept I was wrong.

You accepted that he would back up for a few years, but now think you are wrong since he is a backup a year after being drafted?

Give it time. His upside is becoming a league average NFL starter, but it will be a tough hill to climb.

All I have heard for the past 6 months is that the only reason Stanzi wasn't playing is because Todd Haley hated him. What are the excuses going to be this year?

Exactly...or they were saving him from getting hurt and they through Palko to the wolves. I'm sorry, if you have a mid to late round draft choice as a rookie, the end of last year was a great time to get him some snaps and see what he has. They didn't because Stanzi didn't give the Chiefs the best chance to win and he WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Nothing against Stanzi, but any other explanation is being seen through Black and Gold glasses.

I always felt he would max out as an above average #2 in the NFL and so far he is pretty much on that track. But it's only his second season behind a big-money guy on an awful team so, who knows? He might be a late blooming #1 someday. I wouldn't put money on it but I wouldn't count it out either.

I'm sorry but anyone who believes this simply did not follow the Chiefs at all last year or pay attention to anything Pioli has stated. They did not want to throw Stanzi into the situation they were in as a rookie with no offseason, period.

Also, Crennel was referencing the players command of the system. He was saying Stanzi was a little behind, which is to be expected considering he has been in the league one year. Cassel is the starter and a league veteran and Brady Quinn already knows the whole system because he played under Darboll with the Browns. To expect Stanzi to be ahead of either at this point is unrealistic.

He has obviously given up and no longer cares, he doesn't even care enough to go to super cuts anymore. Next year he will be in Canada for sure, possibly on an arena team and that's if he's lucky.

My rebuttle to this is a quote from PhoenixHawk.
Well, you gotta remember that Stanzi couldn't beat out Jake Christensen in practice, either. But once he got in the game, he showed something else. Some players are just like that.

I understand the whole throwing him to the wolves opinion, but if they think he is worse than Palko, they shouldn't have kept him. Even with development, starting out below Palko is sad lol.

Honestly, some players are just Game players, and some are practice players, and some are both. Just how the game goes sometimes.

And GM's always tell the truth to the media. Pioli is not going to come out and say, "wow, Stanzi doesn't give us a chance to win and he will suck if we put him in. He's no where near ready to play at this level." The GM's job with the media is to put a positive spin on most everything he can...and not throw players under the bus. What happens on the field is how they really feel.

Four months into the season and Stanzi hasn't caught up? I'm not trying to bag on Stanzi...I hope he gets time and develops into a great QB, but people act like somehow he either got screwed by Haley, or he was being saved from playing in games where he could get hurt or something. If they thought he gave them the best chance to win...he would have played...period. The sad part is, they thought Palko gave them the best chance...what does that tell you?

Untrue.......Haley did not hate Ricky, he hated Pioli and that is why Ricky did not play. My excuse if Ricky does not play this year is that quite possibly in his second season, he may not be ready. Pretty simple really.

Permit me to answer this with a question.

DUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRR?

Anyone who saw the preseason games saw that Ricky was miles ahead of Palko. I know it might be hard from someone who isn't a Chiefs fan that doesn't follow the program to understand. Palko threw FOUR intereceptions to 0 touchdowns in one game and they still didn't put Stanzi in. I'm sorry but there is no way in hell that Stanzi is THAT much worse than Palko. Also, most reports out of practice were that Stanzi was performing better.. Just like those reports currently:

"Ricky Stanzi has such a natural/smooth 3,5,7 step drops. And had some really impressive throws"

compared to:

"3 Players who underwhelmed me 1. Brady Quinn..."

Another tidbit on Stanzi currently:

"@Chiefs_All_Day Cassel without a doubt. But Stanzi looked better in day 2 and threw some WOW passes"

A couple more tweets on Stanzi:

"@TheFilmRoom I can’t help it if Stanzi is improving in mechanics and throwing some impressive passes."

"Three players who impressed me the most in Day 2 1. Jonathan Baldwin 2. Ricky Stanzi 3. Dexter Heyman"
