No rumblings or rumors of QB battle?

There are a couple of posters on the pay board that seem to have access to the inner workings of the football program. They have said that Beathard has the highest ceiling but they are not sure if he is as ready as Rudock or Sokol. My take is if they are all at the same skill level come camp next fall Beathard will get the nod.

Of course! It's well documented that Jake was completely ready, and The Corporal had all the faith in the world in him, to step in at every opportunity that presented itself; such as, blow out win (Minny), blow out loss (PSU) or poor play by the starter (take your pick of every other game).

Whoever starts will certainly do a terrific job on the field but more importantly he will be a tremendous person off the field.

Rudock may or may not have been or will be ready. The commentary is that Rudock has been at Iowa two years now and Sokol has been a JC QB for two years and in Iowa's system for one. Beathard has only been within the system for one year. My post had nothing to do with the fact that Kirk didn't put anybody else in last year.

Did you ever think, maybe, just maybe...KF kept JVB in during those games as he was struggling with the offense and needed the reps. That maybe he felt that would pay off later in the season...didn't work out, but logically it makes sense to me. Minnesota was pretty early in the season and PSU was game seven. Everyone wanted to see Jake against Penn State...that would have been a big mistake. With the left side of the offensive line decimated in that game...keeping the veteran guy in there so a newby doesn't get killed was a good coaching move. Maybe Michigan...but I honestly believe he didn't want James to be looking over his shoulder and create the media controversy. Say what you will, KF sticks with his guy through thick and thin.

I think the another reason JVB played is because he earned it...that being said I can see how KF's loyalty can become a liability...ala Jake the Snake.

I saw all three in action last night. Ruduck clearly has the best arm and velocity but struggles when he has to take something off. Sokol did a nice job identifying targets but his wind up and release were incredibly slow, I'm not sure he will be able to get away with it on Saturdays. Beathard is a real wild card, he looked really good and I think threw the best ball out of anyone. We will just have to see what if anything carries over from Colonial Lanes to the field.

Whoever it is, I'm sure we'll all be calling for the other two by the end of September. I honestly expect there to be some QB controversy next year. It's not KF's style, but unless one of these guys pulls away, we'll see all three on the field at some point.

QB battle seriously that is highly unlikely?? I would guess KF has his favorite already. KF and QB battle at Iowa is oil and water they don't mix..

Are you basing that opinion entirely on last year or do you think that there have been many years where he didn't allow a more talented backup to play at all?

Hoffahawk is either really good at repressing bad memories or we have a spelling Nazi on our hands.

Guaranteed fan grumbling next year saying the non starting qbs should be starting and none of us will know anything about their game abilities other than we know they should be starting. Book it danno

Anyone who left Banks on the bench for the majority of snaps would have to have their judgement questioned.
