Well I'm going over my initial post. Here are some changes.

I'm Kool-Aid infused so I agree w/ a lot of your updates. My comments to your changes.

QB -... Peyton Manziel probably becomes Iowa's first two-time Heisman winner. But he won't start this year.

The heir apparent to, more than likely, Stanley. Stanley will struggle early but will finish strong as will the team.

RB - whoa nelly!!!! JB on board, so that's like getting Daniels back. I think Toren Young supplants Toks if he hasn't already. Haven't even mentioned Kyshaun. He'll red-shirt.

Even w/o JB I think the Hawks were strong @ RB. Young will see the field more than most realize.

WR - Quarrels baby! I like the 3 true freshmen. MVB needs to stay healthy. A little less worried than I was a few months ago. If Young can up his game so much the better.

Can't wait to see MQ on the field. He looks to be a pretty good fit at Iowa. ISM has a lot of potential and will become the check down guy who actually gets 1st downs.

TE - Fant - Hockensen - Pekar - Wisnieski - Wieting - yeah, we're loaded!

Fant and Pekar will be will be on the field together frequently.

OL - Can you say two-time Joe Moore Award winners?

Yes, and I can say "legitimate depth" too.

DL - Coaches are moving guys around to get Epipen on the field. He'll make someone's FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN team. People keep saying they are inexperienced. I hope our rivals are that silly. This unit is strong and will be better than last years. And yes, I'm aware last year's unit was very good.

May be the strength of this team. The depth will allow us to hang around in close games. If the O can get the job done then we will see Hawkeye success.

LB - the best trio in the BIG TEN. Nuff said.

Big Ten? They should be in the national conversation. Jewell already is and Niemann is poised to have a breakout year.

DB - like DL, people are worried about these guys. I'm not. Rugamba and Gervase will both be stars by mid-season. Miles Taylor has something to prove. If he comes thru then this unit will be the final piece in a puzzle titled: BULLIES OF THE BIG TEN.

The starters will be competent. The only question mark is depth.

Punter - not sure

If Rasetter hasn't regressed since the Spring game then we should be OK. Release times were short enough and hang times were not spectacular but consistent.

Kicker - Duncan = Kaeding? No, but don't be sad because he does equal Houghtlin.

Recinos has made the leap and should cover kickoffs and long FGs. Duncan should be the PAT man and also cover the short and weird angle FGs.

Returners - not sure, but someone will come thru.

I cringe at the thought of Wadley returning punts as he is to valuable to take that kind of abuse. Devonte Young might be the guy, we will have to wait and see.

Summation: I was bullish a few months ago and with the additions now I'm even more bullish. 9 wins 4 losses.
If Brian is as good as Rob and Jon say, that includes a bowl win.

Regular season should be in the 8 to 10 win range. A bowl win sounds great.

I think our strengths are our OL and Rbs on offense and our DL and LBs on D.

I said it in another thread. We are built to run and stop the run. Which should help us tremendously in the B1G.

I hope Stanley develops as do the WRs. But having Vandeberg will help that out.

It all depends on Stanley and how he overcomes mistakes. This team really is starting to remind me of the 2009 squad in certain facets. Stanley will make mistakes early on. I only hope that he has a demeanor reminiscent of Stanzi. Both Vandenberg and, to a lesser extent, Rudock seemed to let mistakes throw them off of their game. Stanzi was able to shake them off and move on. He had confidence in the defense. They were Norm's firemen and Rick knew they would put out any fires he inadvertently started.

You're not alone in your thinking. Everyone is putting this season on Stanley's back. Weird how the offense was the fault of KOK/GD for18 seasons and now it's no longer on the Offensive Coordinator. Somehow I saw that coming.

You're not alone in your thinking. Everyone is putting this season on Stanley's back. Weird how the offense was the fault of KOK/GD for18 seasons and now it's no longer on the Offensive Coordinator. Somehow I saw that coming.

The QB will usually be a key piece to the puzzle, but I don't think anyone expects Stanley to carry the offense. I do think he needs to be average or better and a cinfident leader for the Hawks to have a 9+ win season, which is all I believe Bitmap was stating.

BF need to put him in a position to do that. If he doesn't, and the offense sputters, he will take the same scrutiny as KOK and GD from the fan base, as will KF for promoting his "unqualified" son. That said, I have a feeling the offense will be better, and some long awaited changes will be implemented in the offense. But that will be in spite of Brian, amiright?

Trust me - BF will get a lot of heat for the play calling if the offense goes flat or isn't productive and I said so in my full season prediction in another thread.

Stanley, and the QB position as a whole, has the least amount of experience in the entire offense. There are two proven pieces @ WR if you count Quarells. O-line is a known, TE is a known (mostly), the back field is loaded. Therefore if passes are dropped it's going to be on the WRs, if they are intercepted they are going to be on the QB. If players are making plays 4 yards short of the marker on 3rd downs it's going to be on BF. I think we will see a lot of mistakes the first three or four games . I also know BF seems to be able to adapt to in game conditions and think he will be able to learn and adapt as the season goes on.

If Stanley does choke and BF lets it go on for more than three or four games then it's going to be BF's fault as there are other options at QB. If Stanley looks sharp from the get go then I would hope to see TW get real play time if situations allow for it.

I agree that I hope one QB doesn't get 100% of the snaps. I think there have been seasons like that (2012?). I generally agree with your assessment. If Stanley isn't getting the job done I hope it isn't allowed to go on for 4 consecutive games. In 2014 it was clear to me that the team responded better to CJB than Rudock. It wasn't about which one of them was stastically better, it was about which one was best at elevating the team. Hopefully Stanley catches on quick and his learning curve doesn't dramatically affect the W/L columns.
