NIT better for this team?

For me it is all about the future. The more playing time the young players can get and the more the fan base can develop, the better.

Seriously believe these last couple of NIT come games will have a marked difference in ticket sales for next year.

I also don't think this is only good for our team but also for our fans. It has brought out some people that maybe haven't been coming to as many games lately and have been slow to connect with this team. Also with such a young team, people will be able to connect with this team for a long time. I believe there is no doubt that our team wouldn't of played as well if there was only 6k in the stands as opposed to being sold out.

I also want to re-highlight what a couple others on here have said.....while I would like a 3rd home game, I would really like to play @ VA in round 3....exorcise the away-game ghosts once and for all. Really teach this team how to win.

"Iowa Basketball 2013-2014....Road Warriors!"

I disagree, I would love to see another sold out Carver to take on Saint Johns.

I just don't think we're quite good enough to win/close one out against a 3-4-5 seed on a neutral court, this year, with this team, considering our 0-5 in closing out close games.

We'd be playing a bit over our heads (out-kicking our coverage) if you will.

Next year will be completely different IMO.

Playing in the NIT is somewhat akin to playing an easy OOC schedule (albeit, at the end of the year). Not a bad thing considering this team's youth.

I thought Indiana St with some of their wins and especially Stony Brook which is a very athletic tough team were head and shoulders above "easy OOC teams"

Funny on the drive home last night I was thinking what our RPI would have been had we played Stony Brook in the non conference instead of a team like Coppin State. That 25-8 record would have made a huge difference in our opponent win percentage.

Would I have preferred to make a run in the NCAA's this year rather than the NIT? Absolutely! But I think the NIT is a logical progression for this Hawkeye team that's slowly crawling it's way out of the basketball grave they were buried in a few short years ago.

Going to have to say, YES to my own question.

This team, this year, learning how to win, leaving us hungry for next year.

The season is playing out perfectly.

Other than SIT GESSELL before he's permanently hurt.
