NIT better for this team?

Ok, Ok, I'll duck and ignore the cat-calls (yes, I was bummed we went NIT'ing)....but...

More games for this young team I think is better than a one-and-done in the NCAA (most likely).

More practices, honing their skills, getting their psyche on, etc.

Yeah, it's against the "B" competition if you will, but I like it.

And for May, it's sorta cool for him to win his perhaps last game at home in a tourney game.

I tend to agree with this.

No. Is the Godaddy.com bowl better than the Rosé Bowl because it's played a week later?

It's always better to go to the big tournament.

Nice to keep playin some ball and try to get to New York.

However, not so sure this team would have been one and done. They couldn't do much worse then some of the other bubble-ins did, sans LaSalle.

I left out a point...

This team obviously has had an issue with closing out games.
Two somewhat close "win or go home" games and we've managed to not fritter away a lead, but, extend it.

If anything, playing 3 (or more) games and learning to close out a team is invaluable for us next year.

At home, sure, somewhat easier, but, the team is no doubt galvanizing itself.

This team, this year, this chemistry, I think this NIT is more long-term beneficial than losing by 15 in the NCAA.

This a young team, still learning... more games is better.

We play well at home. Not sure how well we would play in Dayton or Lexington.

Yes, I think the extra games will help a lot.

Also, remember that we also get to play this summer 10 or so games on our Euro trip that teams get to take every 3 or 4years that a lot of other teams won't have this summer. More games can only help

Only worth it if that at least make the final four.

Also does anyone know the last time Iowa made it to the 3rd round of any post season play?

I don't want to say it's best for the team, but there are certainly a lot of positives to be gained from playing well in this tournament. Learning how to finish teams, getting some tournament experience. More practice time together, lots of good things can come from this.

1987 team made it to the awesome eight and lost to UNLV. We were up 19in first half only to play conservative and pizzed it all away. I will never forget that one.
