Nico Ragaini Ready for Final Ride at Iowa

Nice timing. I heard he hurt his foot and may be out week 1.... Ugh.. Seriously are we going to have to go 3 TEs and a fullback all yr long?

I have to admit despite Nico's Big play against PSU last year, I almost forgot that Nico is still in the team. Nice to have his experience still around.

Nice write up Rob, thanks for posting. Incidentally, on that 2021 highlight video I posted he replays that great catch and run against Penn State. Love the call from the announcer as his voice was cracking from the excitement of the play.

Oh what the heck……….. here you go!!!

I know he was frustrated last year with his lack of opportunities. Other than a few notable exceptions, I didn't think he played very well. The opportunities he did get, the hands were inconsistent. Granted, the quarterback play wasn't stellar, but some of it was on him.

I am expecting a 30+ catch season from him this year...and if Bruce or Dejean can't figure out punt return duties it will be him returning punts. For the passing offense to be successful, he has to be clutch. I think he will be that guy, but I'm not 100% sold on it.

We gather interviews at media day and haven't had access to the team since Kids Day. I have heard Nico is hurt but nothing official on severity of injury or how long he'll be out.

So...

Johnson, Bruce, Ritter, Vines, Ragaini, and Brecht are all either out, injured, or missed tons of practice and still not ready to go per KF.

So now we're down to a RS freshman walk-on in Wick? As a head coach I'd be wanting some answers as to how you could have your entire receiver room hobbled.

Iowa has had a lot of big plays over the years. Nico may have a very nice year with more attention on Johnson and Bruce. Johnson taking the safety on the deep routes and Bruce as that slot receiver option sitting down on short to medium routes. Nico may get some open looks if Petras/Padilla can find him.
