Who should be the MVP of the NFL?

I couldn't care less if Stanzi played. They need a new QB. No one on that team is competent at the QB position.

Stanzi was a great Iowa QB but I agree he isn't the level of NFL QB that the Chiefs need to be successful. I don't think he will ever really be a starter if he is that team is in bad shape.

Do you like Romeo Crennel as the coach?

He can be the DC. Not the head coach. Go get Sean Payton, a QB, and another OL and call it a day.

Not sure on the details of the Payton contract. I'm just saying I'd love to have him. Crennel is gone.

I was a big Joe Montana fan so when he left and went to the Chiefs that was a huge swing for me. Plus I was a big Marcus Allen fan as well. I have always followed the Chiefs but wouldn't say I am a fan.

I think Saints probably want to bring him back if he is still under contract. The organization seemed to have his back as far through the suspension due to the bounty-gate thing. But who knows until the season is over because I don't thik that the Saints will make any annoucements durigng the season. I don't think the organization wants to risk fan backlash because from what I can tell on ESPN and from the home game turnouts the fans still want him back.

Why aren't we talking about Calvin Johnson in this thread, he just broke Jerry Rice's single season record for yards. Megatron is the best player in the NFL; the Lions throw the ball more than anyone, but he is constantly double covered and still gets yards.

Or are we really only talking about Peterson/Manning because they came off of injuries and are on better teams?

I thought Gruden was spot on Saturday night talking about Johnson after he broke the record. A lot of his yards are what he called "garbage yards". The game is already decided, the Lions are losing and he gets a bunch of yards.

Calvin Johnson shouldnt even finish in the Top 10 of MVP voting.

You seen the passing attempts per game stat? Stafford is absolutely killing it. This is career, but it is even higher this year. I think 45 or so per game.

That many attempts + most targets in NFL + being behind and teams playing prevent = crazy numbers

Agreed.

I agree with Gruden as well, but it seems sometimes people get way too caught up in numbers rather than the impact of what one player has on a franchise.

Manning's impact cannot be underestimated. People had Denver down and out after 5 games and were questioning Manning yet again. It is funny how good Manning has been, but so many questions about him because he "only has one SB." Then you have the question of "is Eli better than Peyton?" which is total garbage.

When Manning came out of Tennessee, I was probably one of his most loyal haters. Over time and watching him in the NFL, he is clearly one of the Top 5 to ever play the game and it isn't about stats. Peyton Manning is a leader, takes blame and is probably one of the most competitive guys I have ever watched on the field.

Back to Calvin Johnson, I think his year would be no different if the Lions had a better record because passing is all the Lions do. Johnson has had some good years with this being the best, he is the best WR in the game and if the Lions ever become a viable franchise year in and year out he will get more recognition.

It is sad that Johnson has the years he has and gets little recognition because his team is a joke. It kind of reminds me of Sterling Sharpe before Favre got there and GB started making the playoffs. FWIW, I think Sharpe should be a HOF'er as well, if some of the OL that have gotten in with injury shortened careers, why not Sterling, he was possibly the best WR in the game when he got hurt during the prime of his career. Hoepfully, this doesn't happen to Johnson and I think he will own just about every receiving record when he is all done, even playing for the Lions.
